How do you tell someone politely that they smell?

How????????

Socks 12-28-2010 12:21 PM

Send them an anonymous letter.

Lycanthrope 12-28-2010 12:24 PM

Fuck politeness. It is better to offend than be offended.

Tom_PM 12-28-2010 12:26 PM

Open with "I'm not sure if this is the best way to tell you this.." then end with whatever the complaint is. You have strong BO.. you need to do laundry more often.. you need a new toothbrush.. whatever is applicable.

beerptrol 12-28-2010 12:28 PM

Jesus H Christ! Who or what died!
I find this works quite well

Agent 488 12-28-2010 12:29 PM

tape a cum encrusted sweat sock to her computer monitor with a note that reads "this is what you smell like - happy new year."

DamianJ 12-28-2010 12:30 PM

Leave deodorant on her desk.

When I am in the room that they are in, be it a kitchen, ann office their house, wherever, I just pull down my pants and take a shit on the floor.

When they looked shocked and say 'Dude? WTF?' I just say that the rooms stinks so much I thought it was a public bathroom.

When they look confuse, just say' Oh sorry... Its not the room its you' and walk out.

CDSmith 12-28-2010 12:31 PM

Give 'em "the look"

no way, that's traceable!

ottopottomouse 12-28-2010 12:37 PM

Get a can of deodorant and spray it all over them. They will get the message although I can't guarantee that it will make them start washing :(

AsianDivaGirlsWebDude 12-28-2010 12:38 PM

ADG

signupdamnit 12-28-2010 12:39 PM

Buy them cologne/perfume and/or a shower set for a holiday gift. Nice subtle hint. :thumbsup

TheDoc 12-28-2010 12:41 PM

Buy them a gift cert to a spa that requires you to shower first... at least then you get what you want.

Or secretly put soap on the persons desk, each day... until they hint is taken.

If the person is a hippie/tree hugger - just fire them, nothing you do will get rid of the smell otherwise.

tranza 12-28-2010 12:43 PM

You don't.........

CDSmith 12-28-2010 12:43 PM

Invite him/her to lunch at a nice hotel and push em in the pool.

Chlorine > stink.

Socks 12-28-2010 01:34 PM

Nothing quite says "I'm just trying to help" like dousing someone in bleach.

CaptainHowdy 12-28-2010 01:36 PM

Offer to shower together <3...

Honez 12-28-2010 02:45 PM

Are there any females that she is close to that you could ask to quietly say something to her?

nikki99 12-28-2010 02:47 PM

if u care about this person u tell him , is not a problem

PornMD 12-28-2010 03:08 PM

Kill it with fire.

The Suit 12-28-2010 03:15 PM

I'd probably just let them find this thread.

LeRoy 12-28-2010 03:24 PM

Some good responses here.

I had a friend whose feet smelled horrible.

Finally I had to break it to him.

"Hey dude your feet stink" "Like really bad"

Agreed just be upfront and tell them

$5 submissions 12-28-2010 03:29 PM

Just bend over and gasp and say I CAN'T BREATHE

beerptrol 12-28-2010 04:09 PM

If all else fails, put on a gas mask or oxygen tank

Allison 12-28-2010 04:23 PM

If it's a female, definitely have another female talk to them about it. Also, if it actually impacts their job, then approach it that way. Something like "Hey Tina, you are doing a great job with XYZ and I want to talk to you about something that is impacting your job that you may not be aware of. It seems you have some type of body odor recently and others are hesitant to approach you or work with you. It may be some thing you're unaware of or completely aware of, but I'd like you look into resolving it so we don't have to have this conversation again."

Do it at the end of the day and just keep it short and send them on their way.

If they don't do a good job, then their smell just makes it worse, so fire them.

If they do a good job, and their smell doesn't impact their work or the work of others, then just let them be smelly. So what if no one asks them to lunch or engages in chit chat with them.

NutraCash 12-28-2010 05:23 PM

ask them how they would tell someone their breath stunk or their BO was strong. Maybe it will get them to think about their own stink

CPA37710T 12-28-2010 05:43 PM

call the person apart and whisper it

seeandsee 12-28-2010 05:47 PM

you fart on them and say, parfum sir

Sid70 12-28-2010 05:49 PM

who let the dog out? My problem was a girl who was sweating during sex, and the smell was not any good, yes, worse then even a fish snatch one.

OneHungLo 12-28-2010 06:55 PM

I once had to take a 13 hr. flight sitting behind these middle eastern gents that stunk so fucking bad, smelling my dogs ass would have been a breath of fresh air.

What is it with some indians/pakis etc? Is it against their religion to wear deodorant or cologne? How can they not smell themselves?

papagmp 12-28-2010 07:17 PM

Actually - I've had to tell a number of girls - be honest and to the point. Works every time.

"Yo Bitch, your coochie smells like a dead fuckin cat"

Never had to smell the stinky bitches again..... But one of them took my house in the divorce.:Oh crap

Spunky 12-28-2010 07:54 PM

Just tell em,hey dude,time for a shower

Seth Manson 12-28-2010 08:52 PM

"I mean no offense, but you reek of fish"

Overload 12-28-2010 09:07 PM

"ok hun, i smell tuna pizza - WHY THE FUCK CUDNT YA WAIT AND ATE IT WITHOUT ME?"

donkevlar 12-28-2010 09:08 PM

Elaborate... everyone smells. Is it a stink? What is the source?

Redrob 12-28-2010 09:10 PM

In the Army, we'd give them a GI shower with about 6 men holding them down and cleaning them with scrub brushes. It only takes once.......

Jon Oso 12-29-2010 03:55 AM

There are some people who are naturally alergic to types of antiperspirant and deodorant, this could be the issue. If you really don't want to offend them, have someone their close to bring it up, or bring them into your office and just lay it on them.

"Listen, I don't want to offend you but we've had some complaints over the last week about a strange odor coming from your work space. If there's something in there that is causing it please deal with is appropriately or we'll have to get a cleaning crew in there to do it" etc etc.

And if the person asks you if you can smell it just say no, your nose is stuffed up.

I had a girl come up to me today that had just eaten some awful smelling mexican food, I started laughing at her and asked if she wanted any gum. She took it and we were both better off.

Drink some cheap beer, then let a juicy super smelly fart near them. If they complain just tell them you was trying to clear the air up a little bit.

HerPimp 12-29-2010 04:18 AM

Talk about deodorants. Talk about things you have heard, brands etc...

"i heard aluminum in deodorant can cause health issues" "i tried using a natural deodorant but it does not work as good" "what brand do you recommend?" "what are you using now?"

InfinityOscar 12-29-2010 08:27 AM

thanks to everyone. there are definitely some unique ideas here how we going to tell her... i think our executive assistant will break her the news
