web payment pro? virtual terminal? are you an ebay seller?

because so far it looks like only accounts with web payments pro, virtual terminal and those belonging to ebay sellers are getting hit with the rolling reserve.

That's when they keep 5% or 20% or even upto 50% of your incoming payments for 2 months or 6 months or even longer.

We've had our PP account a long time... But we didn't start taking web transactions or ebay at any volume on it until a couple years ago. I don't remember any reserves though.

We have hard goods and once we enter a tracking number, pp doesn't seem to care much anymore. This also makes our return rates pretty much nothing, down to our own stupid mistakes.

Maybe it has to do with the type of item(s) sold, do you enter a tracking number on everything?

woj 12-29-2010 07:34 AM

no reserves here...
maybe you got a chargeback or 2 in the past?

No reserves here either, but I'm trying to figure out what triggers them so i can avoid them.

I had account 10+ years. No charge back or disputes on it at the time. I was hit with something like a 10% reserver for 3 months. I posted about it on GFY at the time, apparently no one else claimed to have heard about it.

When I was hit with it, the transaction volumes, and dollars really spiked compared to historical volumes. That was the reason for them hitting me. Claiming because of the dollar, and transaction amounts, the risk was higher. They would review every 90 days or some shit. In the end, never removed. Although it was only 10%.
