Is it irony that Google toolbar doesn't work on Chrome?

It kind of makes me laugh that Google toolbar, which it seems they want to install on your browser with any software you download, doesn't work on Chrome.

same with their website speedtest tool, only for firefox.

The functionality of both, as well as the rest of the firebug toolkit is built into the browser... don't need add-ons.

The odd thing I've noticed when in FF, is that using fireftp, in the top bar it says chrome://fireftp/content/fireftp.xul -what's that all about?

To answer your question, no it isn't even slightly ironic.

Fucking Alanis Morrisette has so much to answer for. A whole generation that has no idea what irony is.

Alanis was off base in most of that song, but I might not be. This is one of the definitions:
an outcome of events contrary to what was, or might have been, expected.
I expected Chrome, which is made by Google, to support the Google Toolbar. However, the outcome was just the opposite of that.

It's referring to a different chrome specific to Mozilla, not the browser.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Chrome_Mozilla

Mozilla used the term prior to Google Chrome coming into existence.
