Any Advice for Newbie re: IPSP, Hosting, etc. Appreciated
My first post, but I have tried to do a little bit of homework and research on this and other sites (your educational series is awesome...and lots of great resources in the Q and A's) before asking for suggestions and experiences...
Am a complete newbie. Want to start a global cams site with original specialty live content (call me crazy, I know I know...). Would ya'all mind giving your feedback and advice--it would be sincerely appreciated. Payment Processors Not sure I want to go with a merchant account (or can get one) to begin with. Thus 3rd party may be the way to go. Any feedback on the following? -CCBill -Epoch -Moneybookers -Zombaio -Alertpay -Globill.net -GTSBilling -Netbilling.com -Multicards -Orbitalpay -Verotel -epassporte -internetransactions.com -adultmerchantservices.com -ecorepay.com -ctopay.com/english (this is a Chinese/Hong Kong outfit) It seems like CCBill is the deferred, go-to option but I am a little hesistant due to higher % and upfront costs. Zombaio seems less on costs (WAIT! Not as of today, wow!), and the development and integration options look quite nice, like for one-step recharges. Others are possibilities, while some look a little shaky. Anyone work with adultaccounts.com? As you can tell, I am looking at a lot of options, and trying to avoid getting screwed with high percentages, escrows, etc., or when a company can and does go belly up. Need to be as flexible as possible with little upfront and shorter contracts (if any). Also looking for one that has a fairly good global currency support and multiple payment options (V, MC, JCB, maybe phone order support, etc.) to reach far and wide. Best CMS software for a Cams Site? elevatedx? adultcms? How about dedicated (managed, likely) server hosting? Any recommendations? I am looking at so many, hard to tell them apart... I am thinking a dedicated server is necessary, but I read that maybe a virtual private server could do the trick, especially in the beginning as I try to build traffic. Affiliate Programs? I see so many, but how best to get started, which ones? Which software works best to manage affialiate payouts? How best to trade links and traffic, exactly? Where could I buy traffic? I'd to see where to go to sponsor as well, without wading through mountains of sites that can't direct a lot of convertible traffic. Post your ideas, please and thanks! I also want to keep my development and programming costs to a bare minimum, using as many open-source tools as I can. I plan to use all sorts of decent SEO methods to generate traffic as well...what seems to have worked for cam sites in particular? I understand it's a rough and tough business, and have to scratch to build uniques, but I am ready to do some hard work. Again, I am completely new to this, and I apologize for perhaps asking such elementary questions, but ya gotta start somewhere!!! Thank you so much!!! |

CCBill worked great when I ran a paysite.

Look into cascade billing using several like ccbill, epoch and netbilling.
Epassporte doesn't exist. Globill? Thought they went under too. |
Good idea on cascading them. Thanks for the tips. I saw that some may or may not work to cascade, depending on the order. And, to demonstrate I am still a newbie, I don't know if the #2 choice is activated only when #1 can't, goes down, goes out of business, whatever. Can it be set up on a percentage basis,1/3 to #1, 1/3 to #2, etc.? I am also trying to figure out how well whatever choice will fit into my site as seamlessly as possible, and match without expensive custom coding work. I read that CCBill has a very good affiliate program (and affiliate software), and it's traffic is decent, but that Epoch's affiliate program wasn't as good.
The work on the site is progressing, getting some chess pieces lined up, developor work, etc. Looking for leads on some lesser expensive video chat solutions, if anyone cares to share. What may or may not be going on with Zombaio is a bit concerning as well. It is an important reminder to build redundancies within the sites, plan for the unexpected, etc. and do not put all eggs in one basket. Time will tell! |
I like verotel in the beginning but switch to ccbill once you get off the ground. Also for hosting check out www.adult-website-hosting.com

Thanks for the additional tips...I read on another thread that Verotel might work better in beginning as well, then to CCBill. I am also still impressed with Epoch, and am still considering Zombaio.
The more I learn here, the more I learn I don't know shit, ha. But I try. |
