Interesting article about Moniker
|
most privacy services offer nothing but initial privacy at the whois. they will typically give up like nothing to anyone who asks..

Didn't Moniker stop sponsoring the TRAFFIC expo, which is owned by Prick Schwartz? And, didn't Moniker/ Oversee start competing with him with their own tradeshow, DomainFest?
If Prick Schwartz wants full disclosure, how about including that? |
I bet the Moniker employee is a female.:2 cents:
|
Didn't Moniker employees, at one time, jack up the bids on some domains at auction? Seems there are some continuing problems.
|
Very disappointing.
Been with them for a long time and have hundreds of domains with them (none with privacy) and have had few problems - all fixed fast. This however is major breach. It is also not like they were protecting million dollars of year of revenue from one client by throwing a $20 a year client under the bus. Even that wouldn't be right but more understandable. I would hope this employee is fired and blacklisted from any customer service job or any job with access to private data. I know that won't happen. They should however at least get fired.:2 cents: |

They are probably moving at the speed of their lawyers now.. or you would think they would have been proactive. If not, they had to know what would happen.

Moniker sucks now. It used to be much better but ever since the Oversee take over it's sucked balls, I would stay away.

:Oh crap its not the first time Moniker have had problems with protecting privacy ..you will find a thread on here (about 6 months ago ) that had people complaining because due to a technical fault everyone could see thier name and address /ownership details for all domains they had private whois protection on ...
Although the problem was fixed many people will now have info still showing in domain tools that captured that info. |

This is very serious. And it's not the first time they had a problem with shady employees doing shady things.

I've used Moniker for a long time and through the years, they've proven to be an excellent registrar. Monte and his team have been very proactive in resolving issues, big and small. I'm sure they'll handle this with the same professionalism and transparency I've seen from them in the past.
Don't blame the whole company for one person's bad behavior. Maybe it should've come out earlier, but without knowing all the details, I'm hesitant to throw stones. |

I've moved my domains to GoDaddy. They're not perfect, but at least you get a cs reply from a human being with a brain. |

Happy New Year!
First let me address lemenus/Fris - The Moniker employee is not a female. The incident was blown up way out of proportion. What happened was a bad judgment call/mistake and it’s being taken very seriously and has been addressed and being handled internally/with HR. See ya in Vegas! |
