From domain reg to second place on google in less than two days!

Started another mainstream site for local market like yesterday and this morning got 2nd position on google! Ok, it's not big term but still this one is fastest so far.
And all I did is facebook links and several forums and that's it.
I think I will do mainstream more and more! :thumbsup

New sites often rank high for a few days, but then will go down in the rankings fastly.

Local searches and long tail terms can be stupid easy to rank on quick. Say I wanted traffic for a pet grooming business in Orlando, Florida. register orlandofloridapetgrooming.com, spend 30 minutes in Wordpress, another 30 minutes dropping backlinks, and odds are that I've owned the Orlando Florida pet grooming searches for the foreseeable future already. I wouldn't even worry about falling off the page on a term like that. Weak ass competition is easy to topple on non-competitive terms.

Relatively easy to do. Depends on the term you are ranked for. You said yourself, it's not a big term.

It doesn't sound very competitive a term, probably the sort of thing you rank articles on. Domain age is kind of a meh point to measure on this one in my books. I'd be more interested in what the domain is. Keyword heavy? General keywords, or very specific to your main target search term? Or did you manage to rank a brand domain sort of thing that easily? Is it even producing much traffic?
