Nothing to be proud of actually. If you sent your shitty players to Spengler Cup in a same way as you did at two last IIHF World Championships, so where exactly your best players are hiding and what exactly they are waiting for? :winkwink:

The best players are all in the NHL right now. Spengler Cup is full of minor leaguers - that includes the KHL teams.

Does anyone actually watch it?

I believe you will say the same about IIHF World Championships, right? :) As far as I remember the 2008 IIHF World Championship final in Quebec city, nobody was witching it. Only your prime minister was sitting alone and watching the game. Seems ice hockey is really not so popular in Canada :winkwink:

Now was that an epic collapse or an epic come back.

Local news is reporting Canadian fans were ripping the Russian flags from the hands of Russian fans. A lot of frustration tonight. I hate to be sitting on the bridges back to Canada right now.

Thats why they had 18 thousand canadians driving down to Buffalo and the rest of the country watching. Its pointless.

RaiderCash_Dominik 01-05-2011 11:44 PM

what did they win?

Martin 01-06-2011 02:35 AM

Canada went down in flames. I didn't see that coming. 5 goals in the 3rd. WOW!

One to remember..

Congrats Russia..

Nicky 01-06-2011 03:25 AM

And we had the russkies with 3-2 1,5min left of 3rd in the semi :(

Si 01-06-2011 07:54 AM

bad result!

They thought they had won and looked like they were over-confident of that. Oh well better luck next time!

CDSmith 01-06-2011 02:43 PM

Moral of story: never turn your back on Russians. :D

5 unanswered goals in the 3rd, owtch. *cough*chokemuch*cough*

No, both teams played well. Canada dominated early but by the 3rd they seemed to just be trying to maintain rather than keep the extreme pressure like they had in the 1st and early part of the 2nd. They simply weren't prepared for the 3rd period rally this Russian team has become known for, and the house of cards caved in on them.

Congrats to the Ruskies. Nice win. We'll get you next year. We're still ahead in # of golds over all. :D

Who do you think will be playing in the NHL in a couple of years?

hard to watch them blow a lead like that though..

They were done in the 3rd. Choked, tired, out of gas. Russians simply schooled them with endurance, speed and skill. They could have scored 7 in that 3-rd period. You can't expect Canadians to run 60 minutes and hit and hit and hit. Outcoached. Just like canadians did it to russians in OG.

There is no "secong" when it comes down to Canada-Russia-USA games. Pick any two.
You dont win second place, you lose the first.

What else is there to do in frigid Canada in the middle of the winter? Of course its all hype. Just like Olympic hockey in the days where the NHL didn't stop play and none of the good players could be found. Junior hockey championships will always be pointless unless they take the eligible NHLers out for a couple weeks, which would never happen cause the NHL is 1000X more important to the players. The guys playing on Team Canada were the second raters. My point is 'who cares?', not to bash Canadian hockey players. Everybody knows that Canada would have won this outright by a whole bunch of goals as they have the best players in the world. But because of the NHL, this became a pointless championship with second rate teams.

Sir, you're an idiot. There were 15 first round picks on that team. The future of NHL.
In case you didn't notice hockey is a team sport. team sport that you play for 60 minutes or more. Russians won 3 games exact same way because of their heart and character. the simply outworked Canadians. You could have had Crosby on that team and still they would have lost. canada was missing 4 guys from NHL, and that was it. Save your sour grapes for next year.
