I'm home before 1 and it's Friday night. Going to stay sober for a month. I never drink at home by myself, but I binge on the weekends. Not really a healthy habit, and I overdid it the entire week leading up to New Years.

It's going to be hard though, I'll be at the bar tomorrow watching playoff games with a ginger ale. :1orglaugh

When you drink everyday and you can't focus on anything else, w/o having a drink :2 cents:

CaptainHowdy 01-08-2011 06:55 AM

The best way is to tell yourself you're not one...

babymaker 01-08-2011 07:06 AM

Good luck Cat :thumbsup

cooldude7 01-08-2011 07:16 AM

start with large whisky peg.,

iSpyCams 01-08-2011 07:31 AM

I stopped drinking 15 days ago, I feel great but I work too much when I don't drink.

Having a drink was my way of telling myself to stop working for the day. Now I work till I get sleepy.

Overload 01-08-2011 07:58 AM

well, if you drink every day (even if its just a few beers) or cant stay w/o alc beverages for a week you surely are an addict ... i used to drink every day (for almost 30 YEARS !!!) and stopped that habit last year, nov. 25th (it was my last chance; i already had ammonia in my blood! serious case of intoxication :disgust) - no shaky fiingers, no hot/cold shivers - nothing :) lucky me; that made it pretty easy, but still, the head longs for some "kick" so i started doing blunts again lol - but still better than alc ;) good luck :thumbsup

I more prefer to drink little and occasionally then every freaking day. It's simply doesn't have sense to drink every day, even every weekend.

TheDoc 01-08-2011 08:13 AM

Welcome back to reality... it's not really that bad of a place.

After a day or two heavy drinking, I can't look at another beer or drink, not without losing my lunch at least. Guess I'm one of the lucky ones, kind of.

djroof 01-08-2011 08:28 AM

drink a tequila and all be ok!

Sarah_Jayne 01-08-2011 08:30 AM

Possibly when your wife is begging you to not open that drink to the point of tears but you do anyway?

It makes perfect sense, if you like something you do as much as possible.

I think the important thing to ask yourself if you are doing it because you like it or because that's what you always do, or because you feel you need to for some reason.

Either of the latter two answers and its time to stop. That's why I stopped.

I enjoy drinking, I like the way I feel about myself and about the world when I drink, but that shit is just not real and so its useless.

HBKKH 01-08-2011 09:07 AM

It's all mental. You can pick up or put anything down if you have a self discipline and realization. Just know your limits and don't get carried away.

jonnydoe 01-08-2011 09:21 AM

Self...you are an alcoholic. Seriously, if you have been drinking that much it would be wise to taper off or check yourself in a rehab where they can medicate and monitor you.

I don't drink, so I can't tell myself that. But I do call myself an addict daily.
