Are you old enough to say you saw them in reality?

Nope, never seen them. I do remember the color bars when the TV stations went off the air at like 2am.
|
Absolutely. I remember the test pattern and off-the air snow. Dad was an expert with tubes, so we never needed a tv repairman.
|
I don't recall those ones specifically, although I do remember the old classic tests of the emergency broadcast system.
BEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEP! !! "If this were a real emergency, you would have been instructed to tune to" etc. etc. Piss off, I am trying to watch Gilligan's Island! |
oh, yes, I do
the first TV that I remember was a black and white one, the first color TV my parents bought was bigger than a tank and just as heavy lol |
I do remember the national anthem and the sign off but not those particular ones. Do any American stations still do the anthem and sign off these days or is it all filled with infomercials?
|
Sarah, there's one that signs off on Sunday nights only I think around here, and they still play the national anthem. It's one of those oddball WB or MyTV networks or whatever it's called these days.
|
No but I remember having a " Clicker " Remote for the TV. I also remember that trucks could change the channels.

I remember my family having a remote that was actually on a wire connected to the TV. Of course, I also remember my dad saying we already had a channel changer and her name was Sarah. Funny, the dishwasher was also called Sarah. |

The infamous Beeb test-card, pretty much used forever in various forms but almost always with the girl in the middle |

I remember when my local stations would sign off for the evening. Was not too darn different than this one:
WTEN signoff |
I can recall the indian head test pattern. In the old days, the localstations ran those with the call sign on the side.
|
I hated those tune tables when I was a kid :1orglaugh
