Eagles are on a six game winning streak against the Giants, from 2008-present. :2 cents:

You eagles fans must be half retarded. I mean. Congratulate yourselves on how many times in a row you have beat the Giants. please remember. The giants have won 3 superbowls. How many have the eagles won? ZERO. If you are happy with almost getting there all the time. You must be eagles fans. Because Giants fans are only happy with winning a superbowl. I mean. Isn't that the point to play the whole year? You guys are in the same position as the Giants are this year. Except the eagles played one more game. You get zero every year and are excited about how many times since 2008 you beat the Giants? Well welcome to real life, and remember the Giants were champs atleast once in the last 3 decades while fat Andy Reid can't get past the playoff jinx.

Yes, Philly has beaten the giants a bunch in the last couple of years, and the last loss was a complete embarrassment. But what about the record that Philly has NEVER won a superbowl?

You guys remind me of Jets fans. Straight up delusional.

when the fact is, your team hasnt even made the playoffs in 2 years.

lol, you see. this is the point I am trying to make. I will look up the stats. But it might be possible the Eagles have made the playoffs more times then the giants in NFL history. WHAT THE FUCK DOES THAT MEAN? Ask anyone that plays NFL who plays on a real team (not seattle this year) if there goal is to make the playoffs. The Giants are in the running every year. So is Philly. The reality is. It only counts to win a superbowl. There is no trophy for second best. You dont get a parade in your city for making the playoffs. Truth is. I am a Giants fan, and before this conversa rtion, I was not even aware that the eagles have NEVER won a superbowl. But I will be sure to make every Philly fan aware of this. The thing you have to realize about this. In real life. No one cares about your records of beating the giants so many games in row accept sour philly fans. When you win a superbowl, come back and talk to me.

Do you think people care about superbowls won 3 decades ago? Hey our team didn't make the playoffs, but hell we won a couple superbowls before some of our teams players were even alive.

Make sense?

You must be an Alky. I am going to repeat this again so you read it right this time. The GIANTS WON THE SUPERBOWL IN 2007. THAT IS 4 YEARS AGO. Since philly did not make it to the playoffs that year. You must have not been watching. Story goes like this

New England Patriots were undefeated for an entire season and the entire playoffs. About to be the second team in the history of this league to do so. But NO. It did not happen. BECAUSE THE GIANTS WON. THIS WAS 2007. not 20 and 24 years ago. The rings are still shining buddy.

Wow holy shit, I realize they won in 2007, but you keep talking about 3. The other 2 were over 20 years ago.

Remember 1 + 2 = 3

Supz 01-10-2011 04:50 PM

Alky, this obviously shows you are not an avid football fan. So I now do not blame you anymore for your stupidity. When you go back the stats and see the Giants won a few years ago. It will be ok for you to apologize. As I am apologizing right now for not realizing you are not a real football fan, so how would you know this.

Sorry.

Right. I said they won one in each of the last 3 decades.

If you do the math the other way around. It is perfect for Philly fans

3-2-1=ZERO

Yes, Philly has beaten the giants a bunch in the last couple of years, and the last loss was a complete embarrassment. But what about the record that Philly has NEVER won a superbowl?

You guys remind me of Jets fans. Straight up delusional.

First, I'm not "congratulating myself" for how many times the Eagles have beaten the Giants. The question was asked, I answered. It was asked to prove a point to those laughing at the Eagles early exit from the playoffs that since the Giants last Superbowl win, the Eagles have been the better team. Significant enough to use as something to shut people up, but, I agree, winning the Superbowl is the only thing acceptable. But I'm also not going to trash my team because they haven't won a Superbowl. If being loyal makes me "delusional," then so be it.

Now, on to Superbowls and Championships. If history is what you want to evaluate, then perhaps you should take into consideration Philadelphia's history before the Superbowls began. Especially since the Giants were a part of the same league. The Eagles won three NFL Championships, in 1948, 1949 and 1960. The Giants also won three NFL Championships (technically 4, but the first one was not a championship game, but merely having the best record at the end of the season). So, overall that has the Giants winning 6 Championship Games, Philadelphia winning 3 Championship Games.

Through the history, yes, the Giants have more overall championships. But to claim that the Eagles have never won a championship, or are never a championship caliber team is false.

Personally, I live in the now, so all that history doesn't mean much to me. I care about what my team has done in the past couple of years, what they're doing now, and how they do in the near future.

Edit: Doing multiple things at once, so that took me awhile to post. I intended to post it immediately after the post I quoted. I missed the ensuing pissing battle while typing. Even so, my post applies.

Alky 01-10-2011 04:53 PM

Finally a normal person.

I never said that philly is not a championship caliber team. In one of my posts I even stated that it might be possible that the Eagles have made the playoffs more then the Giants. I do not know the stats though. My point is, going to the playoffs and beating the giants so many times does not count. I wasn't pointing it at you, but obviously at Alki. I can respect your knowledge of the game, as he obviously does not have. Philly is always a contender. With that said. It is all about the trophy.

Alky, once again you say something that no one cares about. Yes it is nice to win the NFC East. I do believe in 2007 we were a Wild Card. Dallas won the division if I am not mistaken. I don't care if my team wins the division, or wins 1 playoff game. I only care for a Trophy. When you get one, you will know what I mean. Until then, be happy making it to the playoffs.

Look man, all I'm saying is that it is comical that "some" Giants fans are dogging the eagles, when they haven't beat them in years.

I wasn't so much saying the you said the Eagles weren't a championship caliber team, so much as the empty trophy case post up there, along with many other Giants fans I encounter (not all of them, though). And again, with it being all about the trophies, the Eagles Trophy case would have trophies in it.

CHAMPIONSHIPS:

NFL Championships (3)
1948, 1949, 1960

Conference championships (3)
NFL Eastern: 1960
NFC: 1980, 2004

Division championships (11)
NFL East: 1947, 1948, 1949
NFC East: 1980, 1988, 2001, 2002, 2003, 2004, 2006, 2010
I know that Giants probably have more, but my point is that the Eagles case isn't empty. But, I will admit that the only one that truly matters in this day and age is the one that is missing from the case.

Oh, and the playoff question:

Philadelphia Eagles:
Playoff appearances (23)
NFL: 1947, 1948, 1949, 1960, 1978, 1979, 1980, 1981, 1988, 1989, 1990, 1992, 1995, 1996, 2000, 2001, 2002, 2003, 2004, 2006, 2008, 2009, 2010

New York Giants:
Playoff appearances (30)
NFL: 1933, 1934, 1935, 1938, 1939, 1941, 1943, 1944, 1946, 1950, 1956, 1958, 1959, 1961, 1962, 1963, 1981, 1984, 1985, 1986, 1989, 1990, 1993, 1997, 2000, 2002, 2005, 2006, 2007, 2008

This happens in every sport. There are philly fans all over the NY news papers online. Some people need to get jobs.

I am a realist. But what is real as you said, is in this day and age. The NFL trophy is the one that matters. No one cares how many playoffs games you win, or how you almost won. It is about winning. That is the bottom line I am trying to give to Alky here. If the giants had went 14-2 the last couple of season and the only team they lost to in all the years was the eagles. What difference would it make? Its all about the trophy!

This weekend of playoffs was pretty amazing. The only higher seed that won was one of the two that weren't expected to win (Seahawks and KC). So 3 seed upsets and a 7-9 team upsetting.

I'd rather be an Eagles fan than a Chargers fan right now. We have some serious coaching issues to overcome and AJ is probably keeping Norv, so I'm actually not going to be that confident in them going into next season even with Mathews likely improving with a year under his belt. We'll suck ass in the first half and try to bust ass down the stretch and either barely make it in or miss the playoffs, and then something bad will happen if we do manage to make the playoffs (we do after all still have the kicker that missed 3 FGs in a playoff game). Such a fucking waste of talent we have. If Rivers keeps going the way he is, he could end up one of the greatest QBs ever to not sniff a Super Bowl game. That said, I'm glad we have him and not that pouty little bitch we traded for him regardless of who has the ring.

Well he did have maybe a couple bad games this year, but most of the losses are surely not hung on him. Special teams was atrocious this year. If I'm not mistaken, we had 4 blocked punts by the halfway point of the season, more than in the entire rest of Scifres career (in fact if I recall correctly he had only 1 prior to this season) and our kickoff return coverage blew hard. Our playoff losses have usually been attributed to injuries, key players other than Rivers falling apart *coughKAEDINGcough* or Norv doing shitty play calling - Rivers himself hasn't really dropped the ball in big games afaik. I guess it could be said he wasn't having his better games later this season, but it's not as if the team did that poorly down the stretch - we just sucked ass early this year and given KC got to 10-6 to win the division, it's impossible to expect playoffs after a 2-5 start.

As much as the team pulled through that start and special teams was much to blame for some losses, I think it hangs on Norv's head more than anything because poor starts have become a trend under his leadership and it really causes the team to spend all of its efforts just to make it to the playoffs, leaving them out of steam at some point in the playoffs.
