Be Wary of Space Visitors...
When considering the prospect of alien life, humankind should prepare for the worst, according to a new study: Either we're alone, or any aliens out there are acquisitive and resource-hungry, just like us.

i disagree. that's an anthropomorphic slant on things.
this comment proves it: Quote:
we have no idea what's out there. |

I call bullshit. If they were just going to mine earth to death or "acquire" earth/humans/etc they would have done it thousands of years ago when they were already here.

who said theres only 1 type of alien?
maybe the next ones that come won't be as nice as the ones from the past |
Think about it.
If alien life existed (which I'm sure it does), we would never see it and it would never come here. At least from our understanding of physics, and the common sense of theory. For example: For alien life to travel the distance required to reach us. They would have to of beat physics and developed faster-than-speed-of-light travel. Which from our understanding is impossible, but hey we might obviously might not know all there is to know. Anyway - To accomplish this they would have to have two things. 1. Intelligence that is so beyond anything you could imagine and have reached such a complete state of unity with life and reality itself that they wouldn't have a need to conquer anything. 2. (and this is the most important one) In order to travel at faster than the speed of light, they would need to have sustainable energy beyond comprehension. A power source so powerful and yielding that it would be self-sustaining and never run out. Therefore they would have zero reason to be aggressive, or require any other resources. I mean literally, they would be GODS. The power source required for that type of space travel would just be so great, that there would be no need for anything else. |

theres plenty better places in the universe to harvest resources than our small clump of rock

Oh, and one of the big points to #2 I forgot to add. So, to travel the millions upon millions upon millions upon millions of light years for an alien to get to us. Would require an energy source SO GREAT, that it would be completely pointless to do so. As an example. Let's say some astronomer was looking into space one day and there was this floating blob of oil out next to pluto. It had so much oil in it's mass that the human species could live off of it for one thousand years. However - for us to travel to get to the blob to harvest it. We would need to use as much oil as the human species could live off of for a million years. It would be the literal example of building a fusion space ship to travel to go harvest the energy from a double a battery. |

Everything I stated is common theory based on the laws of physics. Go look it up. In fact I've never heard a physicist who didn't share this exact outlook on aliens and space travel. :2 cents: |

I agree with the rest of your post, though! Very well said. |
Blah, this thread destroys my current thinking of Aliens. I get all my Alien info from Alien Sex Files on HBO. Aaaaaargh.
