The best Canadian is a dead Canadian.

BFT3K 01-10-2011 10:37 PM

Oddly enough, I'm pretty sure the last Japanese 6 pack I bought was brewed in Canada...

Kootenay Mountain Ale is the best beer Columbia Brewery has got. Can't get it back in AB unfortunately though. At least I never seen it.

BFT3K 01-10-2011 10:40 PM

Do they still brew Molson Golden? I haven't seen it on the store shelves around me in years...

I really like the Maudite, and the occasional Ephemere. Had some friends go down to Vegas a while back and they told me they found Maudite in a bar there. For like $16/bottle, lol.

quiet 01-10-2011 11:06 PM

i barely ever drink beer, but the odd time i do enjoy an ice cold kokanee in the hot tub when it's really cold out.

SexAdventure 01-10-2011 11:09 PM

This. Kootenay and Naramata Nut Brown are my 2 favorite Canadian beers.

If you like Gold, you'll like Mountain Ale. I drank gold for ages, when I got to BC and tried the Mountain Ale, I never drank Gold again. As of lately my typical party drinking beer has been Okanagan Springs Pale Ale, or well, Pil. When I go to the pub I drink Tree. I switch it up though, there's a lot of beers I like.

I literally just got done watching the movie "Strange Brew" (for the first time, I might add) so this thread is especially ironic. After the movie ended I was wondering what the better Canadian beers were. Good stuff!

bigmacandcheese 01-11-2011 02:17 AM

Driftwood beer kick ass! Especially their Satori fresh hopped ... mmmmmm

Definitely a classic Quebec beer - if you like the mature fruit flavours

For some reason it made me LOL big time too.
Tho I'm certain in Canada they produce licensed Heineken too,
so Heineken it is.

GTS Mark 01-11-2011 07:53 AM

IMO, Sleeman makes the best mainstream, widely available beer. And their not so mainstream offerings like their Fine Porter are great too. And if you're after a light beer their light actually still tastes like beer.

I didn't know that it actually existed. It was just a reference to the Best Canadian Beer Movie. :1orglaugh

Nice domestic pilsner. :2 cents:

CDSmith 01-11-2011 09:58 AM

Fort Garry Ale is a quality micro brew. I prefer the dark over the pale ale. They've won the "best in Canada" award at least once in recent years. Brewed right here in good ol' Manitoba...

Rickard's Red is nice too.

Agent 488 01-11-2011 09:58 AM
