So Manwin now owns both AVN and GFY?

Can someone please confirm this stomach churning news?

If it's true, look at the bright side... all the companies who have been screwed by them now get to PAY them for advertising. :1orglaugh :thumbsup

Choker 01-12-2011 10:15 AM

If true this would not surprise me at all. Kudos to Manwin if true.

CaptainHowdy 01-12-2011 10:15 AM

There's no business like the adult business...

LeRoy 01-12-2011 10:16 AM

That would be somethin wouldnt it?

marketsmart 01-12-2011 10:16 AM

the funny thing is that if this is actually the case, no one will do shit...

people in this industry love to get fucked over and then forget...

this is the funniest shit i have ever heard if its true...

best industry slap in the face ever... :thumbsup

.

Agent 488 01-12-2011 10:18 AM

that would explain why paul markham is now a mod.

Quentin 01-12-2011 10:21 AM

Not from what I understand.

I believe that the chairman of AVN's board of directors, Theo Sapoutzis, is one of the investors who purchased AVN, and to my knowledge, he has no connection to Manwin.

I could be wrong, of course.... but I do have a pretty well-placed source telling me that the Manwin/AVN connection is pure red herring territory.

CyberHustler 01-12-2011 10:21 AM

Can't a man just win without you fucks complaining?

I don't think this often, but in this case, I really hope I'm off.

From what I've been told it's a complicated arrangement but they do have a hand in it. But like I said, I hope I'm wrong as are the people giving me the info.

I know this is a mighty unsatisfying answer, but it's true... if I went around telling people who my source is in situations like this, my sources would no longer be my sources. ;-)

Like I said, not a real compelling answer. As to why I should be believed... that's up to you, but there are a couple facts that argue in favor of at least believing that I have a source on this, whether or not my source knows what he/she is talking about:

1) From day 1, I have operated in this business under my real name. When I have something to say, I stand behind it, period, whether the subject is highly controversial, entirely mundane, or somewhere in between.

2) I spent several years writing for various industry media outlets. Some of my coworkers and peers from those days still work for industry media outlets, including AVN.

I know this response is not what you were looking for, but it's all I'm willing to say about it. You and the other people reading this thread can judge my credibility (or lack thereof) for yourselves.

Good morning everybody, I understand why all of sudden AVN is big news again, but me and Theo have been with the company for almost 2 years now and we never hided our role. Theo has been leading AVN's board for over a year now and I have been in many events all over Europe talking to a lot of people about it.

Just to be clear its not Gamelink or Manwin or Private related to AVN and GFY. We raised investment capital we have been AVN's partners for over a year now. Paul Fishbein is of course still the President and part of the company and he is here to stay. He built the company near 3 decades ago and I really admire the work he had done. I never hided that I think AVN should have done many things differently or even failed hard on some things, but we believe we can change that and work hard to do so.

We are still in Vegas fighting with the logistics of the shows, has been a hell of a week! Driving to LA in a couple of hours so we will be online later on to answer all questions. Nothing to hide here, quite the opposite. We haven't bragged about it, has been a very hard year for both of us, trying to restructure and change many things. Furthermore there is always a learning curve and especially for companies like AVN and Gfy even more.

We are very excited about all this and we do think we can really improve many things. Future will show. Acts are bigger than words. We both are online people and have a strong development background both in adult and in mainstream and we want always to go forward. You can always reach as at [email protected] and [email protected]

I'd like to believe that, but I don't believe anyone in this business anymore, especially when it comes to something like this. Every time someone says something is not sold, 100% of the time it turns out to be not true. Of course there are all the other lies too, like remember when Brazzers said they did not own or would never have anything to do with tubes? Good stuff. Or how about all the hidden SOBV programs they swore they did not own? Tawny Stone died in an accident? Oh, Alec and that whole XXX shenanigans with ASACP supporting it and was going to get paid from it, and then backing away and saying they never did, that was great. Epass is fine, don't worry! Remember that one? And so on and so forth. The lies in this business are so huge and often so complex that you may not even know that the business was sold and even if you did, you'll say anything to make us believe otherwise. I could list examples for the next 24 hours but you get the point.

However, I hope what you say is true. I just don't believe it to be so.
