Hi - Starting from scratch - advise please

We are complete newbies to GFY and have been reading allsorts of useful info for the past few weeks and would like to say THANKS to you all for the massive amount of quality information and assistance the forum users share. We have been involved in forums for years in a variety of genre (not porn tho) and normally get totally fed up by the backstabbing, name calling, misinformation etc and are pleasantly surprised by the genuine assistance provided by you all - a very pleasant change!:thumbsup

So .................. we are hoping you will all hold our hands along the way and help us to start from scratch and get up and running and hopefully in time have a profitable business - It may be interesting for us to share our story for other forum users too - there are loads of posts from people hoping to break into the industry and we certainly would have liked a case study to read.

We have about 8 years worth of home-made, amateur dvds of myself (and hubby where needed!) with the emphasis on cum play & eating, my boobs feature too in various roles and I am quite blessed in that department and throughout there is a smattering of bondage, oral, feet, etc. The content is amateur and we would class me as a MILF

We want to create a pay site using our content - which we feel is pretty good and there is not really much out there along the same lines having spent years on the net as voyeurs! We envisage the site having a free tour, then the members content offering videos, still images a forum and a blog. As we have 3 kids of an age where they are no doubt trawling the web for porn we want to keep things anonymous and dont really want our home address to be available, etc.

Now we have hopefully given you all an idea of where we are and our plans here are our initial questions:

TYPE OF WEBSITE: what method should we set up - eg. html - I have always used Microsoft Frontpage for websites I have created before but am now aware things have changed and I note that beginners are advised to start with a blog and build up to a website so perhaps Joomla, Wordpress or some other system would be a better choice nowadays?

ICQ: I have no experience of this and note this seems to be used all the time within the industry. Please can someone explain what it is and how you all use it?? Is it like an email address and used in a similar way?? Why does the industry choose ICQ?

VIDEO EDITOR: We have hundreds of hours of dvd content but it will need some editing to tidy it up for the site. I have Photoshop premier which seems quite basic. What editor would you recommend bearing in mind we haven't got a huge pot of money to invest at this stage. I also want to know if it is possible to blur out faces, delete areas of the video image and generally enhance and improve the video - a bit like photoshop for still images?

have you chosen the domain name ? I would suggest to chose a person name (may or may not be your real name) instead of of a general milf domain.

Dont make your website in frontpage, find a designer/programmer to create your site. The days of frontpage are defenately over ;)

Apparantly I can't add images (I had stored them within an adult image host site with a url link to them) until I have posted 30 times!

Hi pm2000 - thanks for the link - have read the main page and I hope you don't mind me pointing out that you have several grammar/spelling issues - I understand that on blogs, websites, etc this can be considered part of the appeal and 'cute' BUT on a site trying to sell me stuff I'm not sure it gives the right impression - i.e. if you don't mind having errors on that page how well is your business run and how clean will coding be for anything I do purchase or sign up for?

If you want me to re-write the wording I would be quite willing - for free - as I don't have many other skills to offer as a thanks for all the help & support I hope to glean from GFY users. - Same goes for any other foreign users - put together your wording in the best way you can in your English (Although I could use a translation programme and tweak that, I suppose) - email it to me @ [email protected] and I will email it back so it reads better in English. I am NOT offering to create original write-ups - just the tweaking.

Hi Yvette,

If you want to build a paysite than its all about the affiliate program. Do you have coding experience? Perhaps you can find a partner that has, because setting up a quality paysite is not just design, but also a lot of coding knowledge. Have you already looked at what CC processor you'll be using? I guess CCBILL would be the best option in this case.
