Same here. Been using filezilla for sometime now with no complaints.
CuteFTP Pro or CuteFTP Home is what I had "its been a while I dont remember" and for what ever reason when it crashed it would wipe everything out in the site manger almost every time leaving me to find my printout for passwords and shit.
What a waist of money that was.
Seems the best versions of certain things are the free ones.

djroof 01-14-2011 11:59 AM

free is always good :P

Supposedly passwords are stored locally unencrypted. If your computer is compromised and filezilla's password file is taken then they have all of your sites FTP logins. I don't know if it's true still or not. I don't use filezilla.

FlashFXP represent. :thumbsup

Yeah I have read about this on numerous occasions. People were getting their entire networks hacked and couldn't figure it out. Pretty sure some virus sites released information that some specifically grab the filezilla db file. I am sure any other unsecured FTP program would be subject to the same kind of attack though.

Unfortunately I am still stuck on Filezilla but haven't had a virus nor hack in ages.

Planned to go the secured route but I have too much data to import in a timely fashion...one of these days.

Kiopa_Matt 01-14-2011 04:54 PM

I use CoreFTP, but then I rarely have a need for FTP / sFTP. Everything I do is generally done via SSH (Putty). CoreFTP works fine for what I need it for though.

That's what I use.

Windows comes with a built-in FTP client ... it's not fancy, but for small, quick tasks it gets the job done.

Passwords are stored unencrypted. Now I use CuteFTP which has the ability to encrypt or remove passwords completely per session.
