magicmike 01-15-2011 07:39 AM

BlackCrayon 01-15-2011 08:11 AM

Sarah_Jayne 01-15-2011 08:17 AM

Those are some amazing photos of a horrible situation.

DWB 01-15-2011 08:29 AM

Anything for a buck. Keep buying all their shit as fast as you can buy it.

What good is being a world super power when so many of your people are dying from fucked up illnesses?

Apparently it is. Destroy everything to make money.

Sounds vaguely similar to another industry I know....

Lilit 01-15-2011 08:39 AM

The sad truth is it's happening everywhere, just not in such extreme volume... It just normally doesn't get brought up to the "masses".

In the situation with China blaming Chinese government is lame cause that's what multinational corporations are doing with the country and here we have another sad fact - multinational corporations are above government.

This is the price we pay for our monstrous consumer appetites.

And the worst thing about this, is that something can be done but governments don't want to jeopardise their financial eco system as it stands.

Decades from now, it will truly be everyones problem - including the population boom.

AzteK 01-15-2011 10:32 AM

man, this is sad.

alias 01-15-2011 10:49 AM

This is the dark side of loving shiny things. Great job fuckers.

maxxtro 01-15-2011 11:07 AM

This is what it looked like in Europe and America once upon a time.
It will get better over there as well. Sooner or later.

i disagree. its a whole different ballgame now. for one, there weren't near as many toxic chemicals. no plastics, etc. second, there wasn't the technology to produce near as many things as there are now.

regardless, this is more corporate greed's fault than the consumer. the consumer will always look for the best deal but if all the corps used the same rules to play, it wouldn't be much of an issue. people would pay a bit more but there wouldn't be any cheaper alternatives so it would be a non-issue. if we have to kill the world so i can save a buck off paper towels, its not worth it and im sure the average consumer would agree.

buildingfutures 01-15-2011 11:15 AM

Horrible

BFT3K 01-15-2011 11:32 AM

This is what the Koch brothers and people like Dick Armey want us to do. Corporate deregulation to compete.

Yaay to FreedomWorks and the corporate sponsorship of the Tea Party!

BTW: Chinese pollution and deregulation effects all of us, regardless of where we reside. Ocean currents spread it around, air currents spread it around, it makes it into our food supplies globally, etc.

the technology is now available to not only make things cleaner but to dispose of waste properly but they choose not to in favor of profit.

they should just make it law that all items sold in north america be made in places that meet or exceed our own enviromental laws. things might go up in price but its not impossible.

Spunky 01-15-2011 02:56 PM

What a disgusting cesspool

vending_machine 01-15-2011 03:20 PM

To those who ask China why they are doing this to themselves; instead ask yourself why you are contributing to it.

All those factories over there are there for a reason, a LOT of what you buy and use on a daily basis originates from China.

Angry Jew Cat - Banned for Life 01-15-2011 03:35 PM

The western world would love to point fingers and scream foul, but fact is that our desire for dirt cheap Chinese shit is what's driving a large portion of it. We're all to blame.

MetaMan 01-15-2011 03:39 PM

LOL same idiots in the west are going to say "why is our fuel so high!!!!" we fueled the destruction of the world WAHOO! GO TEAM WEST

Retail Industry lobbyists in the US will fight that tooth and nail...and "donate" huge sums of money to lawmakers to make sure no such law ever gets passed.

stonehammer 01-15-2011 06:35 PM

those pictures are simply terrible

HomerSimpson 01-15-2011 07:08 PM

take a good look at those and when you next time go to shop and see something "Made in China" at funny low prices. Think twice about buying those products since by buying those you personaly are making those things that you just saw even worse (along with your own economy :upsidedown)... Maybe those goods are that cheap because somebody over there just don't care about the people, the environment, global pollution, toxic wastes... or just don't give a fuck about anything than just how to produce products cheaper since he'll make more money by selling those (crap) in US and EU.

I personally love to see Made in USA, Made in Germany, Made in Sweden.... because those people do care, and those products are always better built than "Made in China" ones... but that's something I don't often see these days...
