Porn Producer Question

For those who work directly with models:

Do you pay your models cash, or via company check?

:helpme

DWB 01-15-2011 08:07 AM

They don't do checks here, so cash.

combination of wire transfer, company check, cash or pay the agnecy

SteveHardeman 01-15-2011 08:48 AM

I shoot primarily first-timers who are very leery of a check. And with all of the dumbasses pretending to be porn producers I don't blame them. So, I pay in cash but I get their SS# and 1099 them.

sinclair 01-15-2011 08:52 AM

Check.
Total minus any "insert pill of choice here" that were advanced before the shoot.

Top notch. :thumbsup

MaDalton 01-15-2011 08:54 AM

cash only - if i told them about wire there would be a riot. and checks are non-existant here, that's so 20th century ;)

Jim_Gunn 01-15-2011 09:55 AM

Company check always.

marcop 01-15-2011 10:17 AM

Company check only... I wouldn't to carry large amounts of cash around with me.

I pay with both but when I pay "cash same day" I always get a better rate from the model.

True dat. Many want that cash money in hand.

BV 01-15-2011 11:00 AM

Lightspeed taught me a long time ago to always pay in cash because if you pay by check and the model has second thoughts and never cashes the check then the contract she signed is not valid.

Sounded good to me so I always paid in cash.

Deej 01-15-2011 11:01 AM

COmpany Check...

I did when I started almost 13 years ago.

It doesn't really matter because they like cash better anyways. So I benefited either way.

CurrentlySober 01-15-2011 11:47 AM

Cash - They sign for receiving it as part of my paperwork package

DirtyDanza 01-15-2011 11:57 AM

Porno Dan 01-15-2011 12:04 PM

We pay the agents directly

fuzebox 01-15-2011 01:42 PM

When you pay by check they just want to be dropped off at the nearest check cashing place anyway.

Yeah, this is the biggest reason I don't write checks anymore. Also, the check cashing places always wanted to give me the 3rd degree calling and asking questions such as:

"What was this check written for?"
"What was the type of work done?"
"Is this someone that you know personally?"

and once a check cashing employee even asked me...

"In order to complete this transaction, we're going to need your PIN number to your bank account..."

Always checks.. Gotta keep records of method of payment. 2257

If you give models cash, a week later she can say "Hey they never paid me"

That's why I have them sign a receipt, upon receipt of the cash.

Thats what i do. I use cash same day pay as a bargaining chip for a better rate.

Girls also no-show less when they know cash is getting paid out after the scene.

LA producers very rarely pay out cash same day. Company checks are the norm in LA.

leg4 01-15-2011 07:16 PM

Get photo and video of you handing them the cash.

Also a good idea for a receipt as Xenigo said.

I write a check, have them endorse it to me and give them the cash

Check, & out of an acct specifically for talent. This way they cannot claim they were never paid, & you only leave just enough in the acct because sometimes you get models adding zeros.

She can also claim you mugged her in the parking lot & took her money. Check all the way.

adendreams 01-16-2011 03:12 PM

I always offer cash to help make sure they show up... if its an agency girl and I'm paying them more than a g - I pay by check to W9 them... All the big companies I have shot for pay by check

Why is there a W2 anywhere in the process?

They are not your employee.

Did you mean W9?
