Why do people pour there beer into a glass?

Just wondering, I tried it out of the bottle and then out of a glass and the bottle tastes better and holds it's carbonation longer.

Scott McD 01-15-2011 08:34 PM

Bottles are always best!

Hate drinking from cans more than from glasses though...

Real men drink out of a glass. Typically a chilled glass, but occasionally a non-chilled glass...

Short answer: different glasses add to the drinking experience.

And fake men drink out of a bottle?

jonnydoe 01-15-2011 08:49 PM

In the midwest corner dump bars they call the glass a shell. It is like a little juice glass. I have never understood it.

Girly men drink out of a bottle. :thumbsup

woj 01-15-2011 08:57 PM

maybe same reason why people eat food from a plate?

Spudstr 01-15-2011 08:59 PM

Draft beer > bottle beer.

Also, it's a bit less filling when you let some of that carbonation escape by pouring it into a glass.

If you are drinking good beer you don't have much choice but to drink it from a glass so you can smell it. If you are drinking Bud or Coors, might as well drink it from the bottle.

totally depends on the beer ... if its a full body well foaming brew, drinking from the glass can give extra joy; just like good wine some beers need to "breathe" a lil to "come to life" ... piss poor US beverages are better gulped ice cold and from the bottle - but beers with taste dont need to be ice-cold :2 cents:

VikingMan 01-15-2011 10:09 PM

Restaurants usually use a rinse agent to make the glasses spot free and this can alter the flavor of the beer.:2 cents:

Jay-Z 01-15-2011 10:12 PM

To be able to drink faster :)

BJ 01-15-2011 10:34 PM

I poor beer in a glass and never touch those beer condoms they use to keep the bottle cold. Mainly so i don't get herpes or something from the 100's of people who touched the beer condom before, after being in the toilet. Also, you don't know if rodent feces or whatever has accumulated under the bottle tops.

...because the best beer never makes into a packaged bottle in the first place. Choose draft :)

Fletch XXX 01-15-2011 10:48 PM

sippin newcastle out of pint bottle, no glass here...

You're drinking too slow. :2 cents:

CurrentlySober 01-16-2011 03:54 AM

I did it, 'cause I found it hard to get the poo through the narrow neck of the bottle... :2 cents:

Kiopa_Matt 01-16-2011 04:08 AM

Because when it's +35C out, and you can only buy 1 liter bottles, it's best to have your beer in a glass full of ice. :)

k0nr4d 01-16-2011 04:09 AM

I prefer drinking beer from a glass as well.

DamianJ 01-16-2011 04:34 AM

so they show they know the difference between there and their.

Ice in beer? I'd rather switch over to a light beer that works with the heat and doesn't taste like piss when it starts warming up...

Pornopat 01-16-2011 05:14 AM

Because there is no foam in a bottle.
Beer with foam tastes so much better to me.

CaptainHowdy 01-16-2011 05:50 AM

We're not animals!

u-Bob 01-16-2011 06:37 AM

because that's the way people have been drinking their beers for hundreds of years.

Machete_ 01-16-2011 07:27 AM

I like to drink beer out of the can.

I don't drink beer so I can't say...

CDSmith 01-16-2011 11:18 AM

From a glass is okay from time to time.

Nathan 01-16-2011 11:30 AM

only someone who does not drink good beer would say this...

As someone else has said, Bud, Corona, sure, drink it from a bottle, its made for it.

But actually good beer, that usually is draft and not bottle, drink it out of a glass. Best the RIGHT glass though, they are all different for a reason.

Also, the argument about carbonation shows that you do not drink beer with foam on top, you make sure there is no foam --> faster carbonation. The foam is there for a purpose, it holds the flavors in better..

adendreams 01-16-2011 03:21 PM

I pull a glass out of the freezer every time - you cant beat that!

Actually, I can. But again, if you are drinking lousy beer, ice cold is the way to go. :2 cents::2 cents:

MaDalton 01-16-2011 04:14 PM

bottle - unless it's a draft beer

Vendzilla 01-16-2011 04:25 PM

Aren't bottles made from glass?

So drinking from a bottle or pouring into another glass object, right, anyways, I prefer draft in a big glass

beerptrol 01-16-2011 04:37 PM

Depends on the beer, I like my guinness stout in a glass, I like my american draft in a cold mug. As for bottled beer I usually drink it fast, so no glass needed

BittieBucks Eric 01-16-2011 06:31 PM

Some people make me laugh. Especially the ones that go on about draught-bottle. Gives me something to chuckle about.

Same with Wine.

Tom_PM 01-18-2011 03:38 PM

I pour into a glass and leave the yeast behind. Then I rinse out the bottle and get it ready for the next bottling day since I make my own. Bottle conditioning is an art unto itself practically. Check out some home brew forums with these questions.

QFT

Different size glasses are key to the experience

V_RocKs 01-18-2011 05:51 PM

Nothing like a beer in a chilled glass/mug

Luscious Media 01-18-2011 06:20 PM

The neck of a beer bottle is covered in dirt and germs. If I can't get a clean glass I make damn sure I wipe the neck down as much as possible before drinking. Yeah, I'm a bit of a germaphobe.
