What's the Most You've Lost Gambling?

So two days ago I played some limit hold em poker ($20-$40) and won $2,100 bucks in about 4 hours. Was a good hit.

The next day, playing the same game, I lost $2K lol. I believe that is the second worst day I've ever had. I should have left when I was down $1,200, but like an addict, I chased losses.

So got me wondering about the fellow GFYers. What is the worst gambling session you've ever had?

My worst: Lost about $5K-$6K in vegas a few months ago (over a 4 day period). I was like a crack addict lol. 2 deck black jack at the Venetian and some other games. I thought I could "beat the game." It absolutely kicked my ass lol.

Let's hear your sob stories.

I lost a $100 chip while walking back to the condo last week. It was the only money I lost in Vegas that trip. I may have lost three hands of blackjack all week, and I lose a $100 chip walking down the street.

CYF 01-16-2011 11:04 PM

I lost $1200 once.

Deej 01-16-2011 11:06 PM

BJ 01-16-2011 11:09 PM

lost $15k, after winning that on $200 playing blackjack. Pit boss convinced me I should get up and cash in. Put it all on black at the roulette table on my way to the cage, lost. stupid.

Wow... i just have to say... that was retarded.

But hey... thats gambling.

Deej 01-16-2011 11:13 PM

Also... how did he "convince" you? Did he actually convince you not to lose it? or did he insist you leave since you were taking them?

2MuchMark 01-16-2011 11:16 PM

I almost never gamble, but once or twice a year we go to the Casino here in Montreal with a few hundred bucks. In our heads we called it "entertainment" so if we lose, we chalk it up to a night of fun. If we win of course, it's always alot more fun.

I remember being in vegas a few years ago at Internext and walking past a guy playing a machine. I remembered him because he was wearing a red cap and red jacket. After some late night party as I walked to my room at 4 or 5 am, this guy was still there, at the same machine.

It doesn't really matter much if he was winning or losing. I just felt bad for him wasting all that time of his life... sad.

you guys should ask choker and jacksparrow, they're gamblers lol

yes it was very odd, about 5am in the morning, he was like "sir, you won a lot of money on what you sat down with, you should leave, seriously"

I never had a run like that, winning nearly every hand for about 4 hours straight. Drunk, stupid.

Spunky 01-16-2011 11:21 PM

Never gamble more than you can lose..walk away after a big win.the house always wins eventually

GTS Mark 01-16-2011 11:27 PM

A buddy and i put 2k on black once in Vegas on one spin on roulette. We had already planned to rent Ferraris the next day with the winnings and cruise the strip! Lol! The alcoholic confidence was surging thru us lol!

Needless to say it didn't end well for us. But at the very least I can knock one thing off my bucket list ;-)

BIGTYMER 01-16-2011 11:34 PM

5k on the super bowl a few years ago.

Sausage 01-16-2011 11:42 PM

Quite a number of $1-2k losses a few years back, but now I just take a few hundred and still have as much fun :)

sojproductions 01-16-2011 11:50 PM

Went to vegas once 3 years ago just for a week with my gf, we had a budget of $500 per day each, needless to say that turned into $1k per day on day 1 haha, lost every day! great fun tho

madawgz 01-16-2011 11:52 PM

and what do you call being on GFY? a constructive use of one's time and an enriching experience?

Mutt 01-17-2011 12:02 AM

$5K on a sports bet where I hedged a bet by picking both sides locking in a profit or so I thought - there was only one outcome of the game that could fuck me and what do you know, it happened. it taught me a lesson, there's never a sure thing.

GAMEFINEST 01-17-2011 12:04 AM

not much, maybe 100.00 dollars, i always win in vegas...always...its the sexiness in me..

V_RocKs 01-17-2011 04:25 AM

In a hand of poker: $576

The dealer was about 410lbs and a 115lbs Asian guy was sitting on the other side of him. I knew nobody had shit so I went all in on a $300 pot and that little fucker called. Had no idea he was sitting there.

Nicky 01-17-2011 04:36 AM

$2k playing black jack. ~$1300 on a texas holdem table.

skywalkeer 01-17-2011 04:47 AM

Saw that happen twice with two different results. One guy hit big in craps, won about 10K then put it all on red and lost. Another guy won big on slot machine and got about 15K, he then put it all on the ODD bet slot on roulette and won. In the matter of about 10 minutes he took a $3 slot bet and turned it into 30K. I have no idea if he lost it after that or not.

rogueteens 01-17-2011 05:38 AM

£1 on a scratch card. I don't gamble.

DWB 01-17-2011 05:38 AM

Lost a good girlfriend once.

Angry Jew Cat - Banned for Life 01-17-2011 05:45 AM

Most I've ever lost from my own pocket would be a few hundred in a night. I've won up to around $1500 and lost it all back though. I just stay the fuck out of casinos now. The odds are always in their favor. When I do gamble now it's juts small house games and I don't really consider the loss of $20-50 to some friends for a few hours of entertainment a real loss.

Get boneprone in here. From some of his old threads, I'd have to say he's had single losses more than the total of everyone else in this thread...

96ukssob 01-17-2011 07:11 AM

Ive had a few $1k losses when I go to AC/Vegas... its not about losing the money, its that it happens so quickly :1orglaugh

Last summer I was in AC. I normally take a few hundred with me to play at the craps tables but forgot to stop at the bank. Went to the ATM and my pos bank froze my card. Had to be on hold for over an hour to get it unlocked and happened again... about 2 hours later I FINALLY was able to get my money out, took $1200 and lost it in about 30 minutes at the table.

It was a mix between angry/rage bets and just being stupid... was ready to go home after that :1orglaugh

HBKKH 01-17-2011 07:40 AM

lost $700 on the pats game :

Jack Sparrow 01-17-2011 07:55 AM

Altwebdesign 01-17-2011 08:04 AM

justinsain 01-17-2011 08:08 AM

I don't bet but I saw this last night on 60 minutes and thought it was amazing.

DirtyDanza 01-17-2011 08:54 AM

weak... I don't consider anything under 20k a loss in gambling...

of course im born and raised here in Vegas.... I see guys playing 200k per hand all day long

HomerSimpson 01-17-2011 09:05 AM

it's only money...

Ross 01-17-2011 09:08 AM

Most I ever lost is about $700 I think. Not a serious gambler tho. A friend wanted to go to the new Casino that opened up for his birthday, so we all went, everyone won a few hundred but me, I lost $700. Ah well, just your luck on the night.

Paul Markham 01-17-2011 09:35 AM

Well into the 5 figures.

Not on the tables, gambled on my second wife and it cost me a lot.

Bryan G 01-17-2011 09:40 AM

Not too much, think about $400 a few years ago.

Billy Walters is the man

" Billy Walters, the famous Las Vegas gambler, was the subject of a 60 minutes special Sunday night.

Walters has won millions betting on sports teams and other groups in casinos around Las Vegas over the years. He has been the subject of numerous federal investigations due to his high winning percentage. Walters first became he subject of scrutiny in the 1980's as part of the infamous gambling league, the Computer Group. The group fed data into computers to help make predictions of sports outcomes.

The group was turned over to the federal authorities by Vegas bookmakers after making millions. Walters was indicted four times for winning more than luck would allow but the investigations proved he was operating within the law.

Walters says he began betting at pool halls when he was in his early teens. Around the age of 15, he began winning thousands of dollars playing pool.

The 64-year-old Vegas gambler has become so influential in betting that he is able to change the lines on a game based on his own bets."

Phoenix 01-17-2011 10:46 AM

few hundred...im not really into gambling.

however i have won a fair amount of times.
last time i was in vegas..played craps for my first time. won about 700 that night, next night i went back and won about 300.
i won 1500 here in toronto, i dont care to gamble, but overall i think im basically even at the casinos.

playing poker my winnings are much better :)

im addicted to gfy

woj 01-17-2011 10:56 AM

a hundred or 2 tops, not in a casino, but sports betting... betting on a superbowl or something similar...

WebairGerard 01-17-2011 11:06 AM

I usually break even once all is said and done.

TheDoc 01-17-2011 11:07 AM

I've only lost hard once... was roughly $10k in a night on blackjack. In a single hand, I've lost around $2500ish and probably around that in a progressive build up on craps - but I wasn't down after that crap out :)

I'm up overall with gambling, if you don't count slot machines and sport bets.

Biggest single bet win I've ever seen was $11k. A guy had covered #8 on roulette. It was his last bit of money, roughly $300 bucks - he had spent everything else, that night. It was crazy, the guy was shaking so bad he could hardly have a smoke....

TheLegacy 01-17-2011 11:15 AM

Hate gambling since I keep thinking of better ways to spend the money - why not put that 2k to making blogs - better odds.

Or hearing of program owners who don't have enough money to keep an employee who may cost 1500 to 3k a month - then turn around and loose 10k on gambling? Seriously? Business before pleasure

The Heron 01-17-2011 11:21 AM

I hate gambling too but lost probably 2k last time in vegas, I'd rather blow my money on booze and parties. Hell I spend more on a bar tab than I'm willing to gamble with ha.

magicmike 01-17-2011 11:31 AM

I used to be into gambling, but I don't think I ever lost more than a couple thousand in one night.

cybermike 01-17-2011 11:35 AM

Now I want to gamble some more!
