is black in tube design getting old?

see topic,

I rather see nice and light designs that are high contrast, or do you still think a tube design should be black?

Also, what about the "tube" inside each domain, is this getting old as well, would you rather have a domain name with tube...something.com or have some brand-able name that doesn't even mean something but is great to remember?

Opinions on this are super welcome..

Discuss...

I always prefer whitish designs.
Tube in the name it's not a must, but I think it's preferable.
And yes, you'd rather have Lamaia.com than supercutegirlstube.com :)

white designs are easier to view

Horny Dude 01-28-2011 10:18 AM

I like the design on Spankwire, they have a light design.

Agreed, i think this black theme is a bit old school tube as well.
Not a tube design though but i like private.com style a lot.
I am planning a tube project atm and i need some help choosing the right theme/domain

I have always liked the designs with the "lights out" version, where it is based upon a white or light colored background, then they have the option to black everything out while watching a video.

I think "tube" in the domain has generally become the standard, I think most surfers likely look for that before clicking on a result in the SE's. I also think that Google automatically generalizes the site as a video site. But of course not always necessary.

Don't know about others, but the black pages have given me better productivity. As far as tube in the domain, depends on what you're looking for. Brandable maybe not, but if you are after seo, the tube helps since you are looking for searches for _____ tube.

I prefer certain colors, and good contrast in design.

I stay away from the yellows, reds, and things of that nature.

what happens when the next thing beyond tubes comes along?

all those tube domains will be as useful as mgpking.com or whatever does now.

Si 01-28-2011 01:07 PM

I like light colour designs, tube or not.

My highest performing blogs, all have white backgrounds.

thanks for all the replies peeps! looks like light design is preferred by most, i kinda expected this though.

One more question, the domain name jizzster.com is it brand-able? is it hard to remember? would it suit a general porn site?

I agree! :thumbsup

jizzster is fine. and think when in a couple years the next trend is coming around you wont be stuck with jizztube when it comes time to adapt.

TheDoc 01-28-2011 03:10 PM

I've always like black.... it makes the content stand out stronger/sharper when being viewed and it keeps my eyes from burning out of my head at 2am - which is why I like gfy being black.

For me, white is good with large amounts of text, like articles, news readers, html/code and even pitch pages seem to format better with white bg's.

myneid 01-28-2011 03:24 PM

pink is the new black

yeah that's why i don't want any domains with TUBE in it..
I think jizzster.com is the better choice over a xxtube.com domain in the long run..

I think you can go both ways but you have to be more careful with black. If your design is too dark or flat visitors will fall asleep or get bored.

Yeah, I like it, too.

Regarding the domain name:
I remember a discussion on gfy about that topic. Someone said that users searching for "...tube.." are less willing to pay than users looking ie for "anal porn movies" or "hardcore porn", even if they visit a tube site. If this is correct (don't have enough experience to compare) you probably won't get truckloads of traffic with a brandable or niche related domain, but probably will get a better ratio. :2 cents:

Godsmack 01-29-2011 03:48 AM

bump for more opinions.. :thumbsup
