My cat died today. :-(

Sad day for me today. I have a few Egyptian Maus but she was my first. Loved her the most.

RIP Shuga

:(

I hated it when my last cat died. Infact she didnae die, she was killed by assholes.

15 years of joy for it all to end like that. Sickening.

Sorry to hear...

Sorry to hear...

People killed your cat? That is horrible.

Sorry for your loss.

ShellyCrash 01-30-2011 01:50 PM

Sorry to hear that. :(

I know I will be destroyed when my siamese goes. I've had him nearly my whole adult life.

Some Guy 01-30-2011 02:16 PM

I'm sorry to hear that, man. Do you have any pics you can share?

wehateporn 01-30-2011 02:34 PM

My cat got eaten by a dog, for two years the neighbours kept this secret in case I went after the dog owner (not that I would have). Instead I thought an animal-hater up the road has put her on his BBQ

brassmonkey 01-30-2011 02:51 PM

sorry to hear that mine died long time ago.

Bill8 01-30-2011 03:15 PM

The death of a pet is a heavy thing, and since I'm kind of a cat person, for me the death of a cat is about as bad as it can get short of the death of a child or a mate.

Maybe even worse in some ways, because a cat feels like a kid that never grows up.

So, I feel your pain. I lost a great cat last year.

closer 01-30-2011 03:23 PM

too many cats around these days anyways

Vjo 01-30-2011 03:56 PM

My best wishest.

I've had at least one and up to 5 cats at any given time since 1976 so I have had some tough days too.

Well said Bill. Unfortuanately that day awaits all cat and dog owners and that is best case scenario. Shame it cant go on longer but that's the way it is. 15 years can go by pretty quick.

Always get another cat right away if you have none.

~Ray 01-30-2011 03:58 PM

go to the shelter. You have a new pet waiting right now.

L-Pink 01-30-2011 04:04 PM

That sucks man, losing a pet is tough. Sorry ......

That's awful :( I mean, on one hand it's nice that they finally told you but what the fuck man. I think I would probably go ballistic on one of my neighbors if they hid something like that from me for so long.

I lost a cat when I was a teenager, it tore me apart not knowing what happened to him- if he got hit by a car, lost his way during a storm, or got sealed inside a neighbor's attic... just awful. So sorry to hear someone could have ended that for you and they chose not to. :(

2MuchMark 01-30-2011 05:12 PM

Really sorry to hear that dude.

Sorry to hear that.

loreen 01-31-2011 12:00 AM

I'm sorry.
That's the reason I don't have any pets...

EddyTheDog 01-31-2011 12:19 AM

Sad...

I had a cat in NZ and I had to return to the UK - I found him a good home but it was even harder than when I had to leave my family to go to NZ in the first place...

blonda80 01-31-2011 12:34 AM

I love cats. Sorry for your loss

Emil 01-31-2011 03:01 AM

Sorry to hear that.
I know the feeling. My cat was 16 years old and died a week ago. :(

Barefootsies 01-31-2011 03:24 AM

I'm sorry to hear that.

I have owned cats on and off since I was a child. All but one a Siamese. Right now I have two of them. The second one, Mynx, I picked up to help in training the Siamese who was very unfriendly. So unfriendly in fact, that she could not get adopted via the Animal Rescue because she is not kid friendly. But I insisted on taking her.

So I took the second, even though I did not want her per se, to help train the Siamese. While still not kid friendly (my niece has her hissing and running for cover) she is doing much better. I am glad I took the second one as well in hindsight. She is very loving and a good cat to have around.

sorry to hear, it is always sad to lose a pet

Rochard 01-31-2011 09:50 AM

We had our cat for like fifteen years. When the end was coming we knew it. She had spent the past month in our closet, rarely coming out.

One night she slowly made her way out to the hall, and eventually into our daughter's room. She was barely moving; I was unable to get her to purr. No one else was home, so I laid down next to her and just cuddled with her, petting her. An hour later I had forgotten about it when my came out of the room screaming - the cat had passed.

Turns out our cat spent her last few hours of her life trying to make her way back to our kid's room to die there. That speaks volumes.

Sorry to hear man. I miss the cats we used to have when the whole family was together.

cordoba 01-31-2011 10:05 AM

I'm still grieving for my neighbour's cat who died last year.

I think it's the fact that she loved me (the cat) even though she wasn't reliant on me for food and shelter.

We were just best buddies.

I'd love to have my own cat but I love travelling and I live on my own.

MrGusMuller 01-31-2011 10:07 AM

Thats why i try not to get too much affected to them, but always sad... :S
Sorry to hear..

Sorry to hear about your cat...

2MuchMark 01-31-2011 11:27 AM

It is sometimes very hard to tell when a cat is sick. Here are a few things cat owners can look out for.

Drinks more water than usual.
If your cat starts drinking more water than usual it may be due to dehydration. Dehydration can be caused by a number of things. If your cat drinks more water than usual over a few days, its dehydration isn't going away. Take him to a vet.

Laying down straight to sleep instead of curling up as it usually does.
Cats sleep in all kinds of ways but if you notice he or she used to sleep curled up but now lays down in a straight line to sleep and does so regularly, it may have breathing problems that you cannot hear, or may be in discomfort or pain.

Diarrhea:
Diarrhea can be caused by bad food of course but constant Diarrhea is a strong indicator that something is very wrong. Not only is it dangerous for the cat but it can also cause dehydration and can be caused by multiple other problems. Get to the vet.

Finally, just trust your gut. Cat's don't always cry when they are in pain or are sick, but if you love your cat you will notice any time anything seems a bit off. Cats can live to 15,16 even 17 years of age. Watching for warning signs and good kitty care will your companion and you lots of happiness, health and love which is of course, worth those crazy vet bills.
