For all of you tech junkies.

Check out my new rig set up. Canon 305. Shoots 50 mega bits per second and runs a 422 color space. Sony ex1's and ex3's run 420. Whats the difference? double the colors!!

By far the sickest camera out right now for shooting HD porn.:2 cents:

Will give a thorough review about the Canon 305 HD video camera in a month.:thumbsup

Awsome camera bro!

I look forward to seeing a more detailed review and some video, Dave. I looked hard at the specs on those newer Canon HD cameras, but I ended up purchasing a Sony EX-1 last week. The Ex-1's three 1/2" chips as opposed to 1/3" chips in the Canon is a major difference to me. Sony's video quality has always looked crisper to me than Canon's softer look and Sony's auto-focus has traditionally been a lot quicker to respond as well.

I did take that 1/3 versus 1/2 inch chips into consideration. But keep in mind, i rather have the newer technology, 1/3 inch Canon chip, than the 4 year old Sony 1/2 inch chip. There is a difference with quality and color leaning slightly towards the Canons side.

Prior to my camera purchase, I had issues with the chip size too. But after actually talking to the Canon Reps and using the Canon 305, i was sold.

The Sony was pretty bad ass under low light (that is the major reason for going with a bigger chip size), but so is this Canon 305.

Shot with an ex1 and shot 3D with 2 ex3's. Been with Sony for a long time. Both were good cameras. I know both inside and out. Before that had a Canon A1 that i loved.

422 color (great for Green screen and compositing) and the crispness of the L series Canon Lenses were the selling points for me. Plus, i like new shit.:2 cents:

Keep in mind i do a lot of green-screen, compositing work, music video work and low budget horror movies. The 422 color without going SDI out the back of a Sony is a huge benefit for me. Plus mixing the Canon 305 footage and the Canon Mark2 footage works out great for me.

And i can shoot porn with it too.:1orglaugh:1orglaugh:1orglaugh

I haven't gotten my hands on a 305 yet... might be an office visit in order soon ;)

DirtyDanza 02-04-2011 08:24 PM

stock lens? it looks pretty wide does it come OEM with x07 or something

AsianDivaGirlsWebDude 02-04-2011 08:25 PM

Sweet! :thumbsup

A bit pricey at $7,500, but great specs (checked it out at B&H).

Once you have some footage shot, I would like to see the EX-1 and 305 footage side-by-side.

Thanks for sharing,

ADG

Yes I also shoot side by side with both cams the bigger chips are much better in low light areas, the dynamic range of SONY XDCAMS are far better than the Canon XF stuff.
Now with that said, the Canon XF can auto focus mush faster and far far better than the SONY EX1 and EX3.

Once you learn how to focus and set up the SONY EX1 and or EX3 it blows away the Canon in very bright contrast situations. See http://www.dvinfo.net for the real results by Pro's
Bigger chips also deliver much better detail in smaller tighter areas.

I agree... I've owned Sony and Canon video cameras, and prefer Sony. I shoot Canon DSLR's though and love them.
