worried about content
Hi! I started working as a web developer for the adult industry like 3 months ago, and these last days I've been a bit worried about what happens if I host a site under my name for someone. I buy the hosting and then I make a cms for them to edit the stuff. Am I responsible for the content in the site? What if they start uploading illegal content?
Thank you very much! |
I am assuming, since the hosting will be in your name, that you will be responsible. DMCA's get sent to hosting company, hosting company talks to the owner of the account. That is a trail straight to you, that I am guessing will hold up in court.

What can I do? Should I guide him through the process of creating an account? I'm afraid of losing the client, but at the same time I don't want to be responsible for the content of the site. Is there any other way to protect myself? I see that the hosting is not responsible for the content, is there any way I can be not responsible for the content?
I'm a bit paranoid because the client told me he was having problems creating the hosting account. I find this extremely weird, since he doesn't seem to be that bad when it comes to technology, pays by Paypal (I mean if he can make a Paypal account and upload funds to it, I don't see how can he not just sign up for a hosting service). |
where are you getting the content from?
|
If you create the account for them in their name then it would be their issue if they got a DMCA, it would then mean that you can easily cut them loose if you have any issues with them.

Yes.....
