Brujah 02-07-2011 08:40 PM

I didn't realize the Ireland bit, where only Northern Ireland was part of the UK.

It was a nice day today in California, nice breeze, maybe about 68 degrees, not a care in the world and not worried about another country for sure

I registered a month before you, dude.

You can call me an asshole, an ugly American, a hillbilly, ignorant...but you can't call me a troll.

Even when I be trolling your ass, Canada.

jimmy isn't a troll... lol.

Are you back for good Scotty or just on a break from work?

FYI, im thinking about buying some gallery spots from your TGP... want to work me a deal, the prices seem kind of high considering how the traffic to your site has been dropping. I'm not being mean or joking. I've got some money to spend, but your current price of $900.00 for 10 text links in the 2-6 spot seems like 2006 prices but your traffic is 2011. Just a year ago you were an alexa 5K and now you are alexa 15K. Your traffic took a huge drop but the prices seem the same.

Again I am not fucking with you, cut me a deal and I will try it out. If I can profit I will keep buying. But $900 for 10 link spots at your current traffic level, seems like its going to be hard to turn a profit with those prices.

cubismo 02-07-2011 10:43 PM

its not 100% correct, people from northern Ireland can and do refer to themselves as Irish. He said Irish are only in the Republic.

He also says that Northern Irish citizens have UK passports...Actually NI citizens are automatically entitled to an Irish passport or an UK one, they have to choose.

I also object to the term "British Isles" to refer to both islands.

DateDoc 02-07-2011 10:44 PM

I do but then again I was born in England!

BJ 02-07-2011 10:45 PM

I live around a bunch of British expats and Im pretty sure they don't expect anyone to know that anyway, afterall england is the 51st state basically.

The USA could take all of it over in a matter of days or even hours.

From my experience the majority of Americans think that London is a country and are very confused about everything else past that in terms of the UK.

D Ghost 02-07-2011 11:25 PM

The United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland encompasses the most of the three. As its full name suggests, it includes Northern Ireland in addition to Great Britain.

Great Britain is composed of three areas: England, Scotland, and Wales.

As for England, it is the largest and most populous portion of the United Kingdom.

BSleazy 02-07-2011 11:39 PM

I grew up in Windsor, England. Home to the Queen, I was once stood next to some American Tourists taking pics of the castle, the lady asked a question... and I quote... 'Why did they build the castle so close to Heathrow airport.....'

nuff said.

Thanks, Mark. I already knew about UK vs England but the info on the commonwealth and other forms of former colonies' relationships to the "Crown" was informative.

DamianJ 02-08-2011 02:23 AM

To be honest, most people in England wouldn't understand how it works to that level.

Markul 02-08-2011 02:24 AM

Thanks for the reminder.

Sabby 02-08-2011 02:32 AM

The only times Americans know about places outside the US is;

When they invade it, even then they're not sure where it is unless CNN get it right on the map. LOL

Some of the Americans I met didn't even know a lot about where they lived.

If you want some real humor, ask an American what America is (or a Canadian what America is).

Yes after the 2,124th occurrence of death by friendly fire, the US demoted Canada from the 51st state, to it's hat.

I have an old Scottish uncle, he says almost the exact same thing about the "west". A few hundred years ago we weren't here, and a hundred more we wont be no more.

Chances are the British Isles, UK and Great Britain will be.
