Anyone thats working off an aircard?

I have had my laptop working off mt black Berry and it seemed that it didn't work all that well doing ftp uploads and secure websites, like banking. Maybe it's just where I was at, but does anyone have any bad experiences with air cards? I live in the country for now and I'm thinking of getting a Verizon air card for my laptop, it would be a lot faster.

I tether off my IPhone all the time, with no problems or restrictions.

Whats the tethering cost?

d-null 02-14-2011 12:52 PM

I've done it lots, the bandwidth is the headache to have to worry about all the time, so many websites are very wasteful of bandwidth

even going on forums some people post large gifs and sigs without a care, so you need to turn off sigs and be careful

it generally doesn't cost any extra, but it eats up your data bandwidth

internet "sticks" are generally a little nicer to use than tethering through a phone too, the proxying can be a pain occasionally while tethering and the phone starts to run hot after many hours

my blackberry connection is so slow that I don't even bother anymore

Like d-null said, it's just regular data charges, as if I was browsing on my phone.

i've had a stick for a few years now. nice little things. you can even get routers where you can plug the stick into and run several laptops off of. i've never done much of any uploading. uploaded a video to youtube once and it seemed to work better than my home cable connection (though this is because rogers fucks with the upstream i assume).
