Whenever I move the design of a site forward to a more modern one my conversions go down. I used to create HTML sites by hand in Dreamweaver and they did great, then everyone told me to go for a CMS and sales went down right away. It took make a fair well to get the tweak the CMS to convert as well

Maybe this is just me. It's a balance of Evolve or Die Verses If it's not Broke don't Fix it

At least you didn't have to put up with poorly implemented AJAX that leaves you wondering if the site is slow or just broken. Back then you knew when a page or site had bugged out.
