Zuzana Designs 02-23-2011 02:24 PM

It will be the best thing you have ever done. I stopped 4 years ago and feel great.

alexchechs 02-23-2011 02:33 PM

Juicy Congrats!!!
My GF just quit 3 weeks ago. I have cut down from a pack a day to 6-7 cigs a day. Want to take it down to 2-3 a day and then do the patch. Last item I tried the patch from smoking a pack a day I was ok on the first dosage and once I went to step 2 it all fell to shit. I am hoping I can just go down to step 2 first and then stop.

Smoker of 20 years and looking for it to be over soon

wehateporn 02-23-2011 02:35 PM

Keep it going!

MetaMan 02-23-2011 02:36 PM

Dunno nothing like smoking back the cool breeze of a smoke. You only live once i say smoke and smoke some more.

Tom_PM 02-23-2011 02:37 PM

Good start man. I managed to quit about a year after my heart attack. Been a couple years now.

Being from NY, you are also saving a shitload of money. What are they, 10 bucks a pack in the city? Crazy!

Deputy Chief Command 02-23-2011 02:37 PM

am smoking as I type this ... marlboro red bought at 2.1USD a pack

kristin 02-23-2011 02:38 PM

Keep it up, soon you'll be saying it's been five years. It's a great feeling to say you were once a smoker and haven't turned back.

Good stuff, keep it up :thumbsup

I smoked since I was 16. Went 100% from cigarettes to copenhagen snuff last march. 3 weeks ago I quit the snuff too. Except for a food craving I have no huge issues really. I can recomend going the snuff route if you keep on failing quitting the cigs through normal ways. Worked for me and snuff is scientifically proven to be 97% less dangerous than cigarettes. Your gf/better half will be pissed for a while tho :)

georgeyw 02-23-2011 02:58 PM

congrats - have done 37 days here, started using the ecigs and now have forgotten about them.
Put the code below on one of your sites - tells you number of days you have quit, money saved and cigs not smoked. Good motivator :thumbsup

PHP Code:

<?
function dateDiff($dformat, $endDate, $beginDate)
{
    $date_parts1=explode($dformat, $beginDate);

    $date_parts2=explode($dformat, $endDate);

    $start_date=gregoriantojd($date_parts1[0], $date_parts1[1], $date_parts1[2]);

    $end_date=gregoriantojd($date_parts2[0], $date_parts2[1], $date_parts2[2]);

    $vartext =  ($end_date - $start_date)+1;
    return $vartext;
}

$date1="01/18/2011"; // DAY YOU QUIT SMOKING MM/DD/YYYY
$date2=date('m/d/Y'); //mm/dd/yyyy
$datediff = dateDiff("/", $date2, $date1);
// number of days quit
echo "Days quit smoking : " . $datediff . " days.<br>";
// cost per packet of cigarettest
echo "$".($datediff * '17.5')." saved by not smoking.<br>";
// number cigarettes smoked per day
echo ($datediff * 25) . " cigarettest not smoked since quitting.";

?>

Congrats, Juicy. I know what you are going through. I used to smoke--for over 15 years! I've been smoke-free for the past 7 years now. I know how hard it can be to stay on the wagon so if you ever need moral support or practical tips, just email me at [email protected] Stay strong, man. I'm proud of you!

ajrocks 02-23-2011 03:34 PM

The first 24 months are hard, after that it gets semi easy.

Yeah, one man's will, and a whole lot of slaves to do the work:

Just remember Juicy, winners never quit, and quitters never win...or something like that.

Exactly. Lack of self-discipline = slavery to appetite.

B.Barnato 02-23-2011 06:41 PM

if by cigs you mean cock i don't believe you

selena 02-23-2011 08:09 PM

quitnet.org has a neat tracker, if you like that type of motivational thing.

Your Quit Date is: 8/13/2001
Time Smoke-Free: 3481 days, 22 hours, 6 minutes and 12 seconds
Cigarettes NOT smoked: 121867
Lifetime Saved: 31 months, 22 hours
Money Saved: $19,798.19*

*That price reflects my brand per pack price at the time I quit. I have never updated the cost, but I know it is considerably more.

RyuLion 02-23-2011 09:52 PM

OMFG!! This is my new desktop!

Congrats, I quit back in June 2008 after smoking about 2 packs a day for 10 years. I gotta give props to Chantix.

Fuseblown 02-24-2011 03:42 AM

Congrats on your path to quitting!

They were almost $16 a pack at the newsstand outside of Madison Square Garden back in December when I was there. Of course, the location explains that.. I didn't bother to look anywhere else once I saw that shit.

tabasco 02-24-2011 03:48 AM

I quite 12 years ago and never looked back. I was up to a pack and half a day too. Once you realize you are a slave to it and you don't really "enjoy it" quitting is easy.

I quit about 2 months ago, before my son was born. I want to be around to see this kid grow up and feel great.

When I drink I sometimes have a very strong urge but you just need to fight it.

I can't say I dont miss it, but I would rather live...

seeandsee 02-24-2011 12:42 PM

i will stop when nature give me health good cig

CamJack 02-24-2011 12:50 PM

My Dad smoked 2 packs of Pal Malls for 40 years.

He did laser acupuncture and hasn't smoked in two years.

No shakes, sweats, or cravings, nothing.

My mom also smokes around him and in the car.

PS: Congrats...if you slip or go back, look into this.

Horny Joe 02-24-2011 12:59 PM

Good job, man! The worst is over now and it will just get easier and better. Sure, you will miss a cig every now and then, but let me tell you, nicotine is overrated! :)

$11.50 for a pack of 'ports on my block...

CyberHustler 02-24-2011 01:16 PM

Congrats Juicy.

I have a similar problem, at least a quarter of green nicotine a day. I want to go down to at least 5 joints a day. Dead serious.

I known quiting smoking cigs is harder.

jml23 02-24-2011 01:25 PM

Any addiction is tough...Just take it day at a time. Dont beat yourself up if you slip...your human! Good luck
