Warning for Windows 7 users
 

if you do decide to install sp1. please do the following.

make sure you have no language packs installed other than your default one.
make sure you disable your anti virus
make sure you disable your firewall.

some crazy shit has been happening to people that didnt.

I had to restore to earlier and do all that for the system to come backup again.

hopefully this will save some people some time.

ugh, almost installed this on one of my machines the other day. I think I will wait for the service pack for the service pack to come out.

I ran it on my Dell E6510 without a problem. Dodged a bullet it would seem.

Fortunately, I don't use Windows7.

WindowsXP and Unix 4 ever.

I didn't take any special steps, and all went smoothly here...

happened with me since i had a large portion of the lang packs installed and on 64bit

Good to know, I need to do the update.

My 64bit SP1 went okay, but I have no language packs.

wasn't aware there are language packs for windows, russian keyboard layout comes with standard win install as many other languages. there are language packs for office though - for spelling and thesaurus as far as i know

ya i had quite a few of lang packs, guess it didnt like that.

If anyone has a bunch on language pack installed got to the Start Menu and type LPKSETUP. In there you can uninstall all unneeded language packs.
