ummm, not sure how to break it to you, but this is a global thing. You may have heard that there is some unrest in the middle east. They are major oil exporters. Other places than the US and Canada use gasoline, and if they can't get it from their normal sources it causes the price to go up everywhere.

That pesky supply and demand issue.

*I see you figured it out. :upsidedow

plsureking 02-24-2011 01:49 PM

beats me i buy in liters

Best-In-BC 02-24-2011 01:50 PM

My point was that Albert and Sask are pumping out more oil right now that the middle east. Yet its more expensive in Canada than the states.

Which is crap IMO

;)

I doubt they are pumping out enough to make up for that which is not coming out of the middle east. That is my point.

Even if they are, I suspect they are selling more to Asia to supplement their loss.

It takes a long time for todays oil to become gasoline, but it only takes a few minutes to change the price on the sign.

Do you have a granola bar blocking your view of the screen son?

fatfoo 02-24-2011 02:22 PM

This is from Google News:

The unrest in Libya caused gas prices to go up to $100/barrel yesterday and $120/barrel today. Evacuations are happening, such as planes to fly 100 Canadian citizens out of Libya by Canada and planes to fly Russian citizens out of Libya by Russia. Libya Col. blames Osama Bin Laden for encouraging hallucinating drugs and unrest.

Kimmykim 02-24-2011 02:23 PM

Simple economics from a macro perspective. While there may be plenty of gas available right now, the possibility of it becoming a bit more scarce or difficult to transport is causing the run up on the barrel price. Aside from the fact that oil producing countries are having issues, there's that small matter of what's actually going to happen with the Suez Canal transport route that doesn't help things.

I just did a quick calculation based on the price of Gas in the UK and the size of a gallon there as opposed to the size of a gallon in the USA

In the UK we pay $11.017 per UK gallon or 4.546 Lts

Bring that down to a US gallon size of 3.7854 Lts
So in the UK we pay $9.19 per USA gallon of gas, makes you feel a little better about the $3.28 per gal in the USA ? :Oh crap

$5 submissions 02-24-2011 02:27 PM

Still more expensive here in the Philippines

Php52 per liter

Since there's 3.78 liters in a gallon, that's Php 196.56 per gallon. Php 43 to $1 = $4.57 per gallon

BUT you Euros also have better public transportation and tend to drive less miles when you do drive. How far is it form the northern most point in the UK to the southern most point? No near as far as it is from NY to LA or Seattle to Miami.

That's Canadian generosity at its finest. We sell the US our natural resources for cheap, and they sell it back to us for a profit. Gotta love it!

In West Vancouver, there's probably more millionaires per-capita than anywhere else in Canada. Don't be such a douche.

"support ourselves" you mean like being the richest province in the entire country? Yep we do just fine.

Yes because "West Vancouver" equals all of BC.

http://www.macleans.ca/canada/opinio...080716_433_433

"There's money everywhere. Alberta's unemployment rate has been hovering down near three per cent. In 2007 Calgary had the highest wages and salaries per employee ($57,940) in the country. It logged the fastest annual income growth over the previous decade, and today it is home to more millionaires per capita than any other city in Canada."

Kindly shut the fuck up.

Sid70 02-24-2011 11:09 PM

I want to know how is that when you dont have to worry about mooney. I'd move to Ancorige for 1 winter to know that.
