WTF Gas is crazy.

Well here it's jumped up overnight. It's $3.51 right now here.

F-U-Jimmy 02-25-2011 03:31 PM

Should be $4.00 within a few weeks :helpme

DateDoc 02-25-2011 03:32 PM

$5.00 not long after that.

_Richard_ 02-25-2011 03:32 PM

welcome to the rest of the world...

Vendzilla 02-25-2011 03:32 PM

oil peaked and is now going down, I think Opec promised that oil supply would be stable and that brought the price down, regarding Libya

Scott McD 02-25-2011 03:34 PM

I know i always say this on here, but i wish we had your problems.

We pay double if not more than that for gas...

adultzone 02-25-2011 03:35 PM

I think its because of Middle East issue nowadays here in PH you can buy 40 pesos to 50 pesos so it takes $1.30 in US

Harmon 02-25-2011 03:36 PM

Thank the morons in the middle east. Allah Akbar or whatever those crazy bastards do or say to make themselves feel better

MaDalton 02-25-2011 03:37 PM

i will ignore the whining of people about gas prices that are one third of what we pay

Yeah, but compare your options to ours. You have a public transportation system that works. Outside of a decent sized city here, there is no public transportation. So, it is buy gas or hoof it.

for the olympics we had to install this 'rav line', a connection between airport and downtown that had been, as an idea, kicked around for years, but always denied because of 'lack of demand' and 'increased taxes'

soon as the big party came along tho, tptb approved that shit so fast you wouldn't believe, and the first day they quadrupled the expectations of traffic on it

no stats, but i'd say it has definitely lowered the amount of single occupancy vehicles, and encouraged business growth along the entire line

go figure.

I believe it. Public transportation does work. I take to ferry to the monorail to the airport when I fly out of here. Parking at SEATAC is $28/day. The ferry and the train cost me less than $10 total.

like it or lump it, the world relies on the arab nations for their gas :helpme

the only people banking on gas are the govts, with their 90%+ tax levy.... if you paid at the pump what it *really* cost, you wouldn't be paying very much. The diff is the govt-controlled tax.

pornguy 02-25-2011 03:58 PM

2.69 and going up a few cents every week here. :(

i see it the other way round: because of high gas prices and higher costs for cars there was a public interest for public transportation.

but since gas and cars are so cheap in the US no one cared for public transportation systems

just as an example - the exact same cars are between 25-40% cheaper in the US than they are for example in Germany, not speaking of the Netherlands and Scandinavia who also add up 180% luxury tax. A Mercedes E-Class 350 costs in the US $50k - in Denmark $185k

That's debatable. I pretty much refuse to get on the shitty public transport here.

We need our cars just as much as you guys to get around. Don't let anyone else fool you into thinking otherwise...

I'm English. Used to take the train from East Boldon to Newcastle then on to Tynemouth M-F when I was a kid to get to school. There were a few times we'd ride our bikes to South Shields and take the ferry across the Tyne though.

Nikki_Licks 02-25-2011 04:09 PM

3.53 for medium grade and 3.63 for high test in AZ

Diesel is 3.89...woah! Gonna be allot of unhappy truckers out there.

Even at these prices, we sure have it better than most countries when it comes to the price of gas.

I can see that having some bearing but a lot of the US does not have any form of public transportation at all. No train, no buss, no anything.

HD Content 02-25-2011 04:13 PM

it will be $5 to $6 bucks very very soon, and the plan is to keep poor people off the street. It will work.

tony286 02-25-2011 04:52 PM

The thing that really sucks it seems gas prices have translated to sign ups going down. It happened the last time

Rochard 02-25-2011 05:04 PM

Damn, I was hoping it would go up higher.

The higher the price of gas goes up, the less the idiots can afford to drive. Higher gas prices equals less people on the road.

thickcash_amo 02-25-2011 05:15 PM

3.47 here and it was 3.05 yesterday.

CDSmith 02-25-2011 05:18 PM

TA, you say "WTF" like this gas hike comes as a surprise. lol

The second I saw riots starting in other ME countries besides the Saudis I knew this was coming.

IllTestYourGirls 02-25-2011 05:22 PM

I will buy an electric car soon. And in WA there is no sales tax on an electric car so that is a huge plus!

i can see that in Nebraska or Utah - there it makes probably not much sense. but otherwise your argument isnt valid - every city from 10 or 20k people up can have a working public transportation system. not to connect cities but within a city and its suburbs.

NetHorse 02-25-2011 06:10 PM

No doubt. Last time gas prices soared, there was a noticeable difference in vehicles on the freeway....actually it was kind of strange.

A lot do. I know a lot of states in New England have a park and ride, with a free or low fee bus that will take you to different exits along the highways.

CDSmith 02-25-2011 06:25 PM

People will again be questioning their SUV purchase.

Moose 02-25-2011 06:28 PM

$4.05 at Shell in San Diego.

eroticsexxx 02-25-2011 08:16 PM

$4.75 - Here in The Bahamas

I know, right? I don't drive much - I work from home and rarely stray far - but it seemed like every time I did go out the freeway was empty. It was nice.

blonda80 02-26-2011 12:00 AM

the price is insane :) electric car is not an option for me

Don;t even bother with him. He is clueless as to the public transportation system here.

In Holland every public transport costs more money than profits. So the government has to put a lot of money in it. The profitable lines are the ones between the cities.

And the government bastards are giving tickets for safetybelts. But when i want to buy a realy save car, there is a luxury tax so that car is 3 times more expensive than anywhere in the world?? How many people would have survived car accidents when they would have driven a Mercedes instead of a Opel? And the new BMW are even better for the environment than most Opels. To collect money the government plays with our lives.

The americans are complaining, and they are right! If you don't complain the government wll fuck you like they do here. Public transport sucks here.

Yup, you nailed it. A 500 000 US city is probably 3-4 times bigger (areawise) than a 500 000 city in Europe and public transport probably won't be economically viable...

BJ 02-26-2011 06:56 AM

make a wrong turn in zurich you end up in germany
