http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Rick_Astley

Richard Paul "Rick" Astley (pronounced /ˈrɪk ˈęstli/; born 6 February 1966) is a BRIT Award-winning English singer-songwriter, musician, and radio personality. He is known for his 1987 song, "Never Gonna Give You Up", which was a #1 hit single in 25 countries.[1] Astley holds the record for being the only male solo artist to have his first 8 singles reach the Top 10 in the UK[2] and by retirement in 1993 had sold approximately 40 million records worldwide.[3][4][5]

After retiring from the music industry in 1993, Astley made a comeback in 2007 when he became an Internet phenomenon, as his video for "Never Gonna Give You Up" became part of a popular Internet meme known as "Rickrolling".[6] Astley was voted "Best Act Ever" by Internet users at the MTV Europe Music Awards 2008.[7]

Well, I was expecting something big that was built by someone with a lot of effort and heart and that it showed up later to be unique on global scale. Like for example Chatroulette.

It seems like I won't read anything inspirational today, at least I am not alone at this dark starless night, I have this hottie with me:

Good night! :pimp

This is a resume reply from the "next" Google.

We received your resume and would like to invite you to an interview at Stanford.

We are currently looking for entrepreneurial people to join the next great Stanford startup and get involved in one of the following areas: software development, system design or quality assurance. The team meets nights and weekends part-time.

About Us: We are a 50 person startup company from Google, Yahoo, Stanford, Dartmouth, MIT, UC Berkeley, Cisco, Sun and more! We are angle funded.

Directions: You can go directly down University Avenue in Palo Alto, straight on Palm Drive. (You will see the Location). Park around "The Oval" after 4:00pm on weekdays, and on weekends (without putting coins into the meter.)

We will meet in the ?location? which is at the intersection of Location Street and Location Street - The very first building on the left when you face the Location.

Sincerely,

Do you notice they are "angle" funded instead of "angel" funded?
I guess Ivy Leaguers don't need to spell anymore. So much for sucksess....

Yeah, this is the success story for sure but somehow I have no sympathy for Mark Zuckerberg and his doings, even more, he's naturally pissing me off, maybe that's because of the resemblance to someone I knew in the very remote past ...anyway, Facebook wasn't a huge deal of effort, it was more like stroke of luck and good marketing. I like more stories about genius, fortitude and longanimity, that's more kind of something for which I may have respect...

Ok. boys, girls and trannies, I was hoping to see some nice underrated and less known examples of web industry success in order to make inspirational and motivational thread. But this thread has failed, as there are too many trolls among us. What a pity. Maybe next time.

Sounds like a very wise quote there, loneliness is probably one of the worst trepidations that a man can experience in his life. :thumbsup

How do you measure success?
I've feel i've been a success when it comes to the things i've done online.

I'm 26 years now now. I've been with the same company going on 8 years. I've never known any work other than the internet.

I own my own home. I own my own car thats i got a few months ago that Ive paid off. My taxes are up to date. I've got a savings account and I love life :)

That's a success for sure! :thumbsup

Though, I was thinking more towards some successful online project... a website or strictly online product...
