what kind of people are the webmasters of today ?
 

hi people, i'm in adult biz from a few weeks, but i had a great experience untill 2003 with social community.

so, it's like a 6/7 years that i'm away from the webmasters lounges :pimp

just a month ago i bought a domain, a script, and a hosting, just to give a try to this porn biz. i worked with ASP, not with php, but i'm learning php (it's very similar to asp).

looking here and there in some forums, i saw a lot of noob, but not just a noob in scripting or adult content, but noob in all those things.
they don't know how to put online a domain, they don't know how to write some little code, they don't know porn.
i mean, i like porn ... and it's like a 10 years that i wanted to enter in this biz.
i like doing web site and i like doing graphic for that website
i don't know how to SEO, but i'm learning too.

so, my real question is:
but this biz is full of people that they don't know what they are doing ?
what kind of man is the average webmaster?
he like porn ?
he know some scripting code ?
or they are just attracted from money ?

i'm asking this just because i want to know what kind of people are my future budddies :)

I think the seasoned webmasters know how to do a lot of things on their own. Domain purchasing, hosting, scripting, html, css, flash, traffic generation, sales, marketing.. pretty much everything you might need to do, you've got to do some of it.

a webmaster had a lot to think, programming php or asp is not a joke, how to put a layout, the graphic, where put the content and the banner, doing SEO.

i think most people learned as they went along.

The webmasters of today have to be a lot fitter and stronger than the ones of 10 years ago, either that or they need a day job as well. With a huge influx of new webmasters over the years, we've had some Darwinism going on. The webmasters who couldn't evolve are no longer with us, apart from the guys who were so big that people have had to evolve around them e.g. The Hun

Yes. All you need to become a "webmaster" is an FTP username and password.

Most seem to know some basic PHP, which is fine when they are only wasting their own time. Be careful of anyone on an adult webmaster board trying to sell their coding services - there's a lot of amateurs out there passing themselves off as programmers... check this guy out for example, this was in his sig here on GFY:

There's other things wrong with it but the most obvious is that he has a public class variable called $returnText then returns it in a public method. He's trying to show you he's pro because he made a class in PHP and knows about object orientated design. But he doesn't, it's all wrong. It's fucking garbage. Just look out for these guys, they are annoying to real programmers.

I started because I stumbled on a "Webmasters $$$" link, and ended up signing up for Nasty Dollars back in 2004 lol.
