Pirates in Japan got a nasty shock when they tried to pull the same tricks on the Nintendo 3DS that worked for the DS. The chip workaround to play downloaded illegal flash disks won't work on the 3DS and has a messed up surprise for some of those that try:

That sucks for those illegal users. It's good for Nintendo that they have figured out a way to stop illegal disks from working.
