Alexa toolbar... Is it just me, or???
Does it cause the browser to slow down significantly? It seems like my browsers are always waiting for the Alexa images to load. Anyone else have this happen? IE6.

Why on gods earth would you even attempt to download anything like that and use it on your PC?

We use it and I can't say it has slowed our browser down.
We installed it at the request of an SEO we work with. It does have some interesting stats. |
I found it slowed things down considerably and removed it. But I also have the Google toolbar installed, so that may have affected performance. Just didn't want to give up Google.

for every webpage you request Alexa requests and sends
information to it's main server. So yes: it slows down your browsing AND's it's basicly spyware. But it's quite useful as long as you turn it off when you are not using it. |

Yeah, I'm aware that information goes both ways, just not worried about it. Is there a way for it to remain off until needed? Every time I turn it off, it just comes back on when I open a new browser. Annoying. I may end up going the same direction as fiveeyes... and maybe it is because both are installed??? |

but, it was my understanding that they would be tracking my surfing to give them more data to base the information they display about sites on. I have not started to recieved any new spams. no new junkmail at the house... no new telemarketing calls... so, I'm not sure if I can see what would be bad about the information that I send them??? |
I think Alexa is a fabulous toolbar. I use both the Alexa and Google toolbar to view my website rankings and results.
|
I agree it slows down the page load time but I don't mind it.
