NYTimes pay wall goes up March 27th, thoughts?

Basically, they will charge $15/month for access. Apparently they will still have advertising. Clicking on "shared" links on twitter, facebook, etc. surfers can still read the articles. Coming from Google, you have a limit of 5 articles per day... otherwise a 20 article limit per day... it gets a touch confusing, and looks easy enough to get around if you are slightly ambitious and a little web savvy. Will it work? What are your opinions otherwise? I think $15 is high (WSJ is just $100/yr, NYT will be $195/yr). If it was under $10 I think you would get a better response. With fewer eyeballs on the page ad revenue would go down, but maybe not -- if the traffic is mostly comprised of people who subscribe, maybe it is a more valuable audience? |

Great idea since they have "exclusive news" that nobody else on the planet
is publishing. I wish I could join now. I wish they would charge me $15 per page per month so that I could realize the true value of their news. I mean, who wants cheap news like CNN online or all those ones on the TV. In fact if someone from NYT is reading this thread now, then please sign me up now using my credit card number 5551-2233-4444-0010 Exp : 12/12/12 CV# 69 Thanks. :thumbsup |
the start of internet3.0 where copyright violation isnt tolerated and people actually pay small amounts to get the content they really want. the free for all is coming to an end.
