That PR was written before the strikes and in consultation with the allies so the Arab league could get the benefit of the strikes while saving face with uneducated communities.
If you think otherwise, you are 'in over your head like a child commenting on a man's game' |
Guess they didn't think the game was for keeps ...

Of course...... everyone knows that Obama is an all knowing Harvard educated intellectual who is always 2 steps ahead of his adversaries...... his track record of success proves that beyond a doubt. :winkwink: What a genius...... Obama cuts a deal where the US takes all of the risk and expense of action and then allows his "allies" in the Arab League to wash their hands of the matter and disclaim any responsibility for the whole mess. He is a genius. If we win we lose (like in Iraq)...... and if we lose...... well....... lets just say that he is clearly a world class strategic thinker. :1orglaugh |

This. :2 cents: |
People bitch about a little collateral damage (if there really was any) versus Quadaffi firing on his own people.
Just goes to show, you cant please everybody. |

You seem like easily an confused type so you likely did not notice how important a role the Arab League approval of the no fly zone was in getting the UN resolution passed. The administration sure cared what they thought just yesterday when Clinton made this statement: Quote:
The Arab League approval was supposed to provide cover in the Arab world for the US to act without international condemnation....... but Obama got played like the fool that he is....... and here comes the international condemnation on day fucking one. :1orglaugh |
Question? . |
Listen to this: http://www.npr.org/2011/03/20/134714...rts-Go-Too-Far
International forces intervened in Libya with broad support in the Arab world. But a day later, Arab League Secretary General of Amr Moussa said the military efforts had gone too far. Shadi Hamid, director of research at the Brookings Doha Center in Qatar, offers his insight. |

Agreed. Obama playing strategic chess against Putin and Hu Jintao is such a lopsided match up that it would be hysterical if it was not so dangerous. |

lolz, your sophomoric view of how the world works is cute. myopic, but cute. i like how you think that news story is an in-depth & accurate portrayal of how things happen. that explains a lot about your comments. :1orglaugh:1orglaugh:1orglaugh |
oh wow, would you look at that!

The problem is to sell the "no fly zone" they down played it, saying it meant only stopping Libya from flying their planes. However, a no fly zone really means taking out any offensive weapons that might interfere with the "no fly zone" missile - Meaning it's okay for them to take out any radar installation that would be tracking NATO planes, any building of their intelligence agency that might have to do with intelligence information, etc.
Yesterday on CNN they showed footage of a convoy our air strikes had hit. While clearly I'm not on the ground there and not in the know, the convoy was described as a few tanks and a few SUVs - nothing that would get in the way of a no fly zone. At the same time these crazy governments and their leaders are quick to make outrageous claims. Just today the King of Bahrain announced that they had overthrown a "foreign plot" to overthrow their government that had been in the works for "decades" but failed to name what country was behind it. That is propaganda at it's finest. |
|
the No-Fly zone is just bullshit excuse to start the shitstorm
eventually, they'll have to deploy ground troops - under the pretense of peacekeeping, etc etc Quadaffi isn't going to give up and this is going to drag on, just like in Iraq / Afghanistan, ending in Libya occupation |

Pity what's happening there coz it is a great little island that unlike other GCC countries (with the exception of Dubai) is wonderfully cosmopolitan. |
