Website Critique and a Couple Questions
Hi everyone,
I'm mostly a lurker here, but I post occasionally. My website is finally coming together and I was hoping to get some feedback: www.phoenixerotica.com A couple of things I would like to mention, is that it may not look like a typical porn site. I am primarily a photographer using it to recruit models for various clients. That being the case, I noticed that I was also getting a lot of random traffic that seemingly had nothing to do with models looking for work. So I decided to throw up some affiliate galleries and try and capitalize. I'm not getting a ton of sign-ups by any means, but a few a week = beer money, right? Anyways. Please take a look and let me know what could be improved. (The video page is a work in progress and I'm not quite sure how I want to set that up yet) I also have a question regarding link exchanges I would like to exchange links with various lists. At the same time, I don't want to clutter the site with random links everywhere. One of the things I am considering is adding a rotating button box that shows a random exchange partner's graphic. Each of my exchange sponsors would have a button that would show up randomly. Would this be acceptable for most link exchange programs? Thank you all for your time. |
Hey...
I took a look at your site... looks clean, and like you said, not a typical "porn" feel to it... From a "style" point of view, I don't have anything negative to say... Since you are looking for models, maybe you should put a "box" at the top of your home page showing the most current casting call... so that anyone coming there to look for work doesn't have to actually click to see what you are currently offering? Most surfers will only go one page deep, so you should try to show them "your sell" as soon as possible... just a thought. One thing I did notice that could maybe hurt you... when I clicked on a "link" (any of your URL links) the resulting page took a little longer than what I would consider "normal" to load. I opened a new browser and tried a few other sites to be sure it wasn't something on my en, and everything seemed normal in my new window.... not sure how helpful that observation is, but you may want to "speed test" your site with one of the online services and see if there is something slowing you down... I think the link exchanges usually want "hard" links that are visible on each page load. I put mine on my front page, but just "push them down a bit" to keep them from cluttering things up. One thing I learned about early on was about bounce rate. Your splash/enter page is pretty plain, and you may be getting a lot of visitors who don't click through if they don't see something enticing enough.... just put some kind of analytics link on your site, and you should be able to see how your bounce rate is doing. Also, since you are trying to recruit models, have you posted anything on one of the modeling sites like adulttalentlist(dot)com or modelmayhem(dot)com? A few posts over there may send you a bunch of good traffic and potential clients... Thats all I got... good luck brother. - JD webmaster (at) lexeigh (dot) com |
The site looks pretty good . Good luck with your website and keep up the good work.

Would have to agree with lexeigh very nice "vanilla" feel site. Pages were taking longer to load for me as well. When I looked at the source looks like either the CMS/Wordpress you are using may have some good amount of bloating in the code. May want to look at how you call the CSS and JS and how much because I think that is really what is slowing it down. Just my 2 cents but real great start I think. Best of luck.

Link exchanges: If you want to build some one-way backlinks I suggest you either purchase other domains and use them as link bait or use free blog hosts instead. If you don't want to spend more money on other domains then the free blog host could be a viable option.
Set up a free Linkspun account. Add your model website but hide it so other Linkspun users don't request links from that domain. Add your other free or purchased websites and start to trade links. You can start to point one-way links to your model website. One caveat is that it will take some time to write content for the blogs, unless you use morphing RSS feeds. However, it can be well worth the time investment. If you don't create other websites to initiate link exchanges you will be forced to put up reciprocal links on your model website. Best of luck. |
