.XXX Domain Will Be Forced Upon Us
How much you wanna bet .xxx will be forced upon us? I'm predicting even though we will be allowed to put our porn on .com domains there will be a shift with search engines. All the major search engines will start to give heavy favor in rankings for .xxx domains for porn related searches.
Think about it, if your shitty .com doesn't rank anymore at the top of the SE's for searches related to porn you bet you'd try to move to a .xxx to continue getting the gravy and do the proper redirects to the new .xxx domain So although we aren't forced to move to .xxx we will end up moving over because the SE's will start to skew rankings to favor those domains that do reside on .xxx As the saying goes "Follow the money". And the powers that be know people in the porn business are some of the greediest people in business, and they will make us voluntarily move over to .xxx without us evening knowing it. before you know it everyone will be on .xxx just like a magic trick... Anyway, .xxx is a bad thing. It's the start of censoring the internet from all the porn out there. |
i don't see why they would do that. lets see, age old .com domains with tons of backlinks vs brand new xxx sites with...nothing. hmm. one thing is for sure, unless searchsafe is totally off, you won't see any .xxx in the results.

i agree. the plan is to move all domains over there.
|
"your shitty .com" you say? Hmm, ok then...

Doesn't matter to me what Search Engines do. For people in my position (single girl site)...if a person is searching for Claudia Marie they are not gonna be satisfied until they find her site. And if anybody else tries to buy her .xxx domain...I own the registered trademark and will simply take their domain from them. :)

they'll try, but they will get shot down...
trannygangbanged.com doesn't have any use in the mainstream world now so why would it ever? Especially the sites that sound like adult porn sites anyway... nobody is accidentally typing in that looking for transmission parts. |
I think you need to be careful not to create a sort of self-fulfilling prophecy though. I really hate to say it but the reason they have (allegedly, I believe the numbers are self reported) over 200,000 pre-registrations could very well be due in great part to all the talk of it becoming mandatory. Many people see the talk of it becoming mandatory and decide to cover their bases. If you think about it speculation such as this and fears that perhaps "Google will favor .xxx" actually play right into the hands of the .xxx owners. So much so that if I were behind .xxx and unscrupulous, I might even start seeding such fears as some sort of clever marketing tactic.

been at the top for years already. That would just make their search results shitty since the old .com was obviously relevant for years. I can't see the logic in ranking thehun.xxx, which could be bought by a clown, over thehun.com Everybody knows about .net .org .co.uk etc.... But look at how they stack up against .com The logical prediction is that xxx will be the same. If sex.com can maintain it's position with the chaos it's been then why should any decent content site worry? http://ooaz.com/gfy/alexa1.jpg |
Google will not favour .xxx - Here is why. All the big sites right now are on .com - they are old domains, and have tons of backlinks. If they start favouring .XXX domains it will make the search results look shitty. It will also open the flood gates for spam, manipulation. It will start a gold rush because everyone would essentially have to start again and everything would be up for grabs. I cannot see this happening.
But if by some miracle it does happen. Well, i will be all over it and make bank :) |
This wont happen.
google wont just ban all old .com domains over new .xxx . on the other hand if google decides to do so., then .com -301--> .xxx idk if 301 passes authority or not. |

if anything goog would penalize xxx domains.

.xxx domains will not become mandatory. Who would enforce that? How would that be enforced. This is the internet, this kind of thing is innately impossible. This would have to be policed using the same methods as c*ild p--n. That's just resource intensive and hardly warrants use on tld management? Besides, who judges whether your content is prurient?

Myself, I await the lawmakers pandering to their voters. |
porn is already filtered out of autocomplete.
