The Hypocrisy Of The Media On Libya Is Astounding
Yesterday I heard the dreaded term "Freedom Fighter" used to describe the opponents of the govt. in Libya
Today, on CNN...they are calling a guy a "Hero" and interviewing his friends and family and talking about how he "sacrificed his life" for the greater good. What did this guy do? Well, he packed a car up with explosive materials and drove it into a pack of Libyan soldiers and blew himself up to kill as many of them as he could. Sound familiar? Yeah...suicide bomber. When it's a muslim doing it AGAINST us...we call them "Cowards" and nobody interviews their friends and families and glorifies them. And commentators on the news wonder how anybody could do anything so despicable. But now...this guy is a "Hero" who "sacrificed his life" This shit is getting ridiculous. We have no business in the middle of a civil war. And the media just might as well drop all pretense that they are anything but an arm of our govt. |
turn off the news.

its hardly the same, this 'civil war' is a bunch of citizens with little resources against a government with basically unlimited resources.
these libyian soliders are out to kill the citizens of libya. its not like they are 'suicide bombing' churches or public places full of innocent people. while i agree, we shouldn't be there, because it opens up a can of worms. how can you be there for one country doing this and not another? |

So why aren't they just doing that? From what I've seen the "citizens" that the army wants to kill are the ones that have guns in their hands shooting at soldiers. And two days ago they were showing the "rebels" with an old army jeep that they were using to run down "pro-Quadaffi" CITIZENS. That's right...the one thing that the news isn't reporting is the fact that the "Rebels" are KILLING people too. Matter of fact, everytime that they shoot a soldier they just killed one of their own citizens who has family and friends that are citizens too. And everytime WE bomb their military, we are killing Libyans too. I'm all for seeing Quadaffi out of there too. But if we were gonna do some crazy shit like this it should have been 25 years ago when his agents killed our soldiers in that nightclub in Berlin. For the last 7 or 8 years he has been our buddy. He gave up his nuclear stuff to the international community. He publicly renounced terrorism. And we took him off the terrorist list. Not to mention his appearance a year or so ago in New York to give his speech at the U.N. And now? Out of the blue we're gonna take him out? The country of Libya poses no threat to us. And hasn't attacked us. Yet there we are bombing and killing in the name of being "humanitarian"? The United States tax payer should not be responsible for the entire fucking world. Nor should our troops be putting their lives on the line for them. My feeling is it's gonna be just like Iraq. When we started this shit...a lot of the people there were dressed in suits and ties and living rather secular lives (compared to other places there). And when we leave...the place will be a bombed out ruin full of people wearing sheets and towels on their fucking heads and chanting "allah". |

If that same guy had done that to our troops...we would be calling him every vile name known to man. You know...just like the families of the Libyan troops that he killed are doing now. This shit ain't as black and white as it's being force fed to us. Bottom line: We should not be there. And we shouldn't be occupying over 80 countries around the world. And our govt. is overreaching not only around the world, but into OUR lives as well. |

I'm sure we won't attack Syria. They have a military that can fight back and the backing of the Russians. Just like we didn't help the Iranian young people last year when they were getting killed by govt. forces. Thank goodness nobody bombed us when the National Guard killed those students at Kent State when they were protesting back a few decades ago. |

This goes all the way back to 1997 when Monica Lewinsky was headline news. Some of the networks stopped talking about it because it was such a sleazy story and they felt it was beneath them to focus on it. The moment they stopped talking about it, the ratings went down. We still like to think TV news has a mission to inform the public and shape debate in the nation.
Bullshit. It's a rating-driven business now. And people whine about how horrible and biased the news is, but the truth that what most people want bright colors and loud noises. That's why Fox has become such a powerhouse. The other news operations are struggling to keep up with fickle public tastes. |

Damn...they just one second ago announced on CNN that the "No Fly Zone" over Libya (which it was announced two days ago that the Libyan Airforce had been COMPLETELY destroyed...so why are we still doing this?) will cost the U.S. EIGHT HUNDRED MILLION DOLLARS.
That's us taxpayers paying for that. Meanwhile our own countries economy and infrastructure is falling to pieces. Nice. |

we get to show the world how superior our air power is and the defense contractors get to make some coin... :2 cents: . |

I saw on the news today some idiot is proposing a tax on the miles that you drive your car. Sheesh! No new taxes. We need to pull our military back home and let the other countries of the world run themselves. As citizens, we need to vote out these idiots that are trying to get us deeper into other countries business, vote out the ones that want more taxes and more government. If Obama truly did not have the constitutional authority to attack Libya, impeach him. The tea party movement was a good start, but we the people need to send all of our politicians a message... |
The only difference between a freedom fighter and a terrorist is which side your on.
|
Arabs killing other Arabs is irrelevant....So if the "good" Arabs are killing the "bad" ones, I guess America is cool with that.....I sure am because an Arab means nothing to me...And that includes Israel...

One man's terrorist is another man's freedom fighter.
I think Islamic Fundamentalists believe in their cause, and I respect that they look at the USA as the enemy. That doesn't mean I don't want to see them killed before they kill me. |

I can hardly watch American media. I try to watch the BBC (not tons better, but it is better) or Al Jazeera who is simply fucking awesome these days. |

BTW to all those who are putting down the US govt, though am not a fan of governments in general.....if one takes a proper look, one will know that this was spearheaded by those nasty french and british governments.....good Ol Obama was just minding his business when they shanghaied him into it and now poor NATO is responsible for the freaking air strikes....and Canada jumped into the wagon too by supplying fighter jets... they could instead have spent this money on helping earthquake victims in haiti or Japan or better yet, helping the homeless, aged or orphaned children within USA |

there are literally dozens and dozens of western news sources that provide solid news, if you take the time to look and have an open mind.
also, not sure why anybody thinks the rebels are any better or in fact, who the rebels are. here are just a few excellent western news sourced articles on those poor souls known as the rebels. Quote:

Something never change. At one time the Israelis were terrorists and the Muslims were just defending their homes.
Now the Israelis are defending their homes and the Muslims are the terrorists. I think it depends what side of the street you live on. Same street, different views. |
The undertones of the Libyan revolt are tinged with religious fundamentalism, rather than liberal democracy.

Should have taken Gaddafi out after the Lockerbie bombing, just him, not the country
|
Has Obama addressed congress yet? Didnt he have to do that within 48 hours? Has Obama gone on tv and addressed the American people yet? I have not watched the news in a few days. I needed a break after I heard Obama launched another illegal war.

Standing on the beach With a gun in my hand Staring at the sea Staring at the sand Staring down the barrel At the arab on the ground I can see his open mouth But I hear no sound |
here's an interesting tidbit, no one know who the fuck is funding the rebels.
