Affiliate wants domain info changed
I was speaking to a well known affiliate about a whitelabel site using my shell for a domain I have. They told me they could do some custom work but since the processing would be handled through them, I need to change my registered owner info to them for the domain.
These guys are a big company, but they could literally call my host and say "hey we need this name transferred to us, look at the whois its in our name" if I do this. "Due to Visa requirements (as your processing will be done on our merchant account), the registered owner of the domain needs to be: Name:Hostmaster Hostmaster Email: [email protected] Company:etc Anyone have any experience with this?:helpme Thanks, Jason |
Are you talking about streamate? I heard they are asking for that.
|
Yeah it was Streamate.
They want me to change my registration under owner to their hosting service, flying croc. |
I am not really able to help you but it seems to be the usual way of biz for them. As there are a lot of streamate whitelabels out there (many big tubes for example) it seems to be worth the risk.

I wrote the contact back asking what exactly i needed to change. They said I didnt need to change the owner info but the registrar. >.<
I emailed them back asking which part and haven't heard back from them yet. Seems, at least for now, it isnt the owner info. Ill update when they get back to me. Thanks for the help. Jason |
I don't like the sounds of that. If you put the registration in their name, they effectively own the domain. That's not something I would do.
|
Yeah I'd definitely not do that, not a reasonable request at all. You might as well just transfer ownership completely lol

I'm hoping the lady was confused and just phrased it wrong.
I am assuming that they want me to fill out my admin or tech info with their information. They made it sound as if they are going to pretty much build a site for me, using my photoshop file, and their merchant account. The issue has to do with visa requiring them being listed somewhere on the whois for them to work with me. I think the lady wasn't sure what she was talking about, she just asked me to write someone else regarding which area they need changed. Ill keep you posted, thanks for the support. |
they might been the nameservers rather than the whole thing if they are hosting it (it would need to be pointing to their servers)

They just got back to me, its the registered owner info.
When I asked what the difference was i was told the following: The difference is promoting Streamate.com vs. a custom whitelabel of your own. If all you want is an iframed ad on your site like the below then you don't need a whitelabel. http://www.streamate.com/exports/code/tour/ Regards, **** I have a lot of sites, and want different affiliates. Guess I can't go that route. Wish there was someone who has tried this to help out. |
Pimproll and Fetish Hits are using a Streamate Whitelabel. Try to get in touch with them, they are usually very friendly and helpful.

what if you have privacy turned on with the domain?
|
I called godaddy when I got their first email, they told me that if I put them as registered owner, all they have to do is tell them that the company owns the domain and to check the whois. When godaddy sees the companies address, they will probably think I'm an ex employee or something and , to be honest, I did legally sign it over to them. Even with privacy they will know I have signed it to em, and could try that.
Im not saying streamate would do that, but I have never done business with them, That's why I am so hesitant. Their custom w/l content isn't that great in my opinion, just ads to the page. In essence they all do this, but other affiliates put more into it, which I prefer. Even though affiliate sites just end up eventually going back to the main site, some programs allow a lot more control before making that jump, which i think helps build confidence with your visitors. If i go to a site, click on a pic and go right to a join page it makes me nervous of popups etc and I hit ctrl w with a quickness lol. Right now I have a fetishhits,webcams.com,aebn, hustlers and hentaikey account. I know they were big and wanted to add them to my list, but if FetishHits is using their content as well, then maybe i shouldn't worry about it, or use a domain i wont care about losing like spankithard.com lol (inactive right now). Thanks for the feedback guys :thumbsup |
