Thanks everyone. Just arrived in Moab, so going to check out the new brewery they have, then I will start putting up more galleries. The southwest is fucking amazing. I am just bummed that there is no way I can take pics of everything we have seen. Time for beer.
|
After we left Sedona, we headed to Flagstaff to check out a new micro brewery, The Lumberyard. Good beer, dine elsewhere.
http://www.gotbaddog.com/wp-content/...staff_7765.jpg http://www.gotbaddog.com/wp-content/...staff_7777.jpg The next day we decided to go the Grand Canyon. We avoided the Interstate and took the back roads in. There we found the Arizona Snowbowl. http://www.gotbaddog.com/wp-content/...wbowl_7802.jpg http://www.gotbaddog.com/wp-content/...wbowl_7806.jpg |
We left the Snowbowl and continued to the Grand Canyon. I ad never entered from this direction, so was not sure which way to go. I took a right hand turnoff and discovered . . . .

Need a beer first though. :drinkup |
So, when we got around the Grand Canyon, it dropped us off onto Navajo Land. I can understand a lot more now. Anyway, we came across a ranch where they found dinosaur tracks, bones, droppings, eggs. Lots of cool stuff. A couple samples.

I am just pulling out one out of 40 or 60, the slide show makes it easy. Here are some from Four Corners Monument http://www.gotbaddog.com/wp-content/...rners_8150.jpg http://www.gotbaddog.com/wp-content/...rners_8197.jpg http://www.gotbaddog.com/wp-content/...rners_8214.jpg |

Beautiful pics :thumbsup
|
great pics as always. Hats off

Thanks. As the travel brochure for Moab says, it is pretty easy to get a good shot around here. Hopefully the sun shines more today so I can get some sharp colors. Yesterday would have been much better sans the cloud cover.

Great pics man, you outdid yourself this time!
|
Amazing landscape and views! Packing my bag now!

Just got back home. Spent several hours in Arches today, then the cloud cover started moving in, so we drove 700 miles home. I will go back to posting pics after I get up. Thanks for the compliments.
|
I forgot, I put up a gallery before we left this morning of the Hovenweep National Monument. Pretty cool scenery . . . to be expected by now. :)

Anyway, after leaving Hovenweep we headed to Moab, which happened to have the convenience of a microbrewery and Arches National Park within spitting distance. These are some of the pics of the drive thru southeast Utah into Moab. http://www.gotbaddog.com/wp-content/.../moab_8325.jpg http://www.gotbaddog.com/wp-content/.../moab_8358.jpg http://www.gotbaddog.com/wp-content/.../moab_8403.jpg http://www.gotbaddog.com/wp-content/.../moab_8342.jpg |
Thanks to Google images, our plan to go to Arches National Park got put on hold. goodgirl found some photos of Natural Bridges National Park. Since it was only going to take a day, we changed our plans and went there instead. Here are a few samples.

Since we were in the general neighborhood, we decided to check out a portion of Lake Powell, in the Glen Canyon area.

Thursday, we were running out of time. So many places to see and so little time. We decided to go ahead and head into Arches National Park. Here are a few samples of what we saw.

Since the clouds were messing with us, we decided to try and get to the Valley of Fire before sunset. Unfortunately, there were even more clouds there. So, our photo journey ended in Utah at the San Rafael Reef.

Nice pics, I would have never expected to see so much green there.

Of course, some of the green is oxidized iron. |
