The Electric was out for 36 hours. (pics)

We had a huge storm Sunday and then the power went out and didn't come back on till 6am this morning. I didn't realize how much I need the electric till it was gone. :( I was not alone tho 250,000 people had no electric for 24-36 hours, some people still have none.

That was some freaky storm!

pornguy 04-06-2011 05:26 AM

Winds have been pretty heavy here for a few days not. Gusting to about 35 or 40 which is odd for this time of year.

We had tornado watches all day yesterday but nothing happened but lots of wind and heavy rain. It was an eerie day.

I'm around Gastonia. The storm hit us about 1:15 am. It blew a few trees down but wasn't nearly as bad as what you guys got.

Question for the NC people. Do your towns turn on the sirens every time it storms? There was no tornado warning for my location that night but the sirens were going off for about 10 minutes. Why? Every time there's a strong thunderstorm they turn the fucking things on.

I'm originally from Kansas. When they turn on the sirens there it's because there was either a funnel cloud sighted or there is a tornado on the ground in the area. I've almost been retrained to ignore the sirens now.

bronco67 04-06-2011 07:12 AM

That happened in my neighborhood a couple years ago. Tress uprooted everywhere, and no power for about 3 days.

There were some MASSIVE trees taken down. One near my house had a crater where the roots had been -- you could stand inside of it and it was over your head.

I'm in Greensboro and they only have the flash on the news. I woke up and the TV was off so I thought "That tv is old and it blew up." and rolled back over too sleep. My dog's were all so sleeping I assume as they didn't bark or anything.

My friends son and his wife were up and the flash news on the tv said there were tornadoes so they got into the bathtub and had a matters over them, thankfully nothing happened there.

I wish I had a camera this gorgeous house up the road lost two huge at least 100 year old trees. It's a good time too be a roofer or a tree guy.

cherrylula 04-06-2011 08:24 AM

yeah we got an automated phone call (for the first time lol) about tornado warning the other night... had family calling me all worried and shit.

but nothing happened, this time. It cooled off a bit though, which I don't mind.

36 hrs without power? We call that a babymaker.

Watch 9 months from now, see all the newborns in your area. TA, you preggers? Better check.
