Yeah, I was just about to say, for $60 a VPS is a very good deal. And if you choose Amerinoc, I bet you won't be sorry. I've never looked back myself.

Hi Loreen, hit me up and I can help you out with VPS plan or entry dedicated server in your budget. :)

Cyandin 04-08-2011 10:46 AM

Loreen,

I'm not going to mince words here. If you want to pay $60, go with a reputable company that provides you a VPS for that price. Your likelihood of getting a good product and service is very good then.

If you go with someone trying to peddle a dedicated server for that price, you're going to either end up with ancient hardware that will die at any moment, abysmal support, oversold bandwidth, etc.

The simple fact of the matter is that one cannot profitably sell a $60 dedicated server without cutting corners on you.

The closest thing possible would be to sell you an Atom dedicated server in a chassis that allows two of them per 1u of rack space. Even then, they would be foolish to charge $60, because the margins are still not conducive to a good business model.

The point here is, don't just think with your wallet, because if you do you'll end up fucked in the end, one way or another. Find the right balance of price, quality and reputation. Good luck! :thumbsup

P.S. To any hosts on here offering dedicated servers for that price point - this is not a jab at anyone, I'm merely calling it as I see it.

Whether this true or not depends on if you want managed or unmanaged. Most here will need managed if they get a dedicated server. Those who don't need it actually can find decent servers in that price range from some very reputable companies. Just don't expect 8 GB and a Quad core for that price. But a dual core and 2 or 3 GB with 3TB - 10TB bandwidth is very much a possibility.

XLT 04-08-2011 12:24 PM

quad-core Q6600, 4gb ram, 1tb hdd and 3TB b/w (100mbit burstable) via Kimsufi.co.uk.

Have been using OVH and Kimsufi for a few years, their services make 90% of unmanaged VPS providers seem like in rip-offs in comparison.

HomerSimpson 04-08-2011 12:48 PM

I have Atom, 2GB ram, 250GB hdd, 6TB, 5 IPs + cPanel for $64/m at InterServer.com
works great

Brujah 04-08-2011 12:53 PM

Another vote for AmeriNOC. They've done pretty well for me so far.

LeRoy 04-08-2011 12:57 PM

Just pay a little more and get a dedicated server :)

CYF 04-08-2011 03:58 PM

SecuredServers:

$58/mo
unmanaged dedicated server

Dual Core G6950 (2 x 2.8 GHZ, 3MB Cache), 2-bay Supermicro Chassis
1GB ram
250GB HDD
10mbps uplink
10mbps unmetered
5 IPs

more ram and a bigger HDD is a really cheap upgrade. I've been with them for a while now and they're probably the best host I've ever had.

It's UNMANAGED, so if you can manage your own server then this is a great deal :thumbsup

Thats pretty amazing. I'm tempted to get one just to try it out. Real support? Does that mean it's managed and support is included in the price?

Melon,

That is unmanaged at that price. We do offer fully managed options under our other brands but at that price it is marketed as unmanaged.

People are saying "too cheap"

Sure, if we were a small colo client in a facility it would be. We own and operate our facilities have been in business for 7 years and have the scale to make these doable. With 2 owned facilities in Atlanta and POPs in 4 other locations and a private network linking all 5 locations we can scale any client from a single "cheap" server up to a massive distributed deployment.

We'd love for you to give us a try :)

Is this a VPS or dedicated?
How much for a Win2k3 license for the above specs?
How many IPs?

I second that.

Gerard can get you what you need and at the price you can afford.

I have been hosting with them for over 5 years. Just moved up to a more powerful, bigger server within that last two weeks. They are very fluid and can adjust up and down with your needs.

Service is fast (Especially the 24/7 live support via your control panel.) and easy.
