WTF is this worthless shit??

Got one of these out of the ATM in between a bunch of real 20s

Guarantee you the bank wouldn't make that 'mistake' when they were worth something :(

fatfoo 04-11-2011 01:11 PM

There is a note on the paper that says, "this note is legal tender." This must be a real 20 dollar bill.

seeandsee 04-11-2011 01:18 PM

FF is wrong :) going into his mode gives an answer:

A specimen banknote is printed to as a way of checking to see whether or not the design is suitable for putting into full production as a currency issue.

Sometimes, specimen banknotes are printed for distribution to central banks to aid in the recognition of banknotes from a country other than their own.

To avoid its use as a legal tender note the banknote is perforated or punched, given a serial number of 0.9999999999 (all nines) or 0000000000 (all zeroes) or is overprinted with the word Specimen or Cancelled in any language.

alexchechs 04-11-2011 01:23 PM

Would then this be a collectors item?

pornguy 04-11-2011 01:33 PM

Not sure what I would do with that.

newB 04-11-2011 01:33 PM

That's a real $20.

The first revision from the older ones with the small portrait looked pretty much the same except with a larger portrait. Shortly after, they removed the oval and added the watermarks.

the post is referencing the fact that US money is worth less than canadian money. he expected canadian bills when withdrawing from the atm, and instead got an american 20, which would never of happened when canadians were getting an extra 50-30 cents on every american dollar.

:1orglaugh:1orglaugh what the fuck are you talking about? the exchange rate is 1 US dollar = 0.9548 Canadian dollars

Euro on the other hand.. yeah, thats fucked right now

TeenCat 04-11-2011 01:50 PM

dont know whats up, but if its special, yeah collect it, your kids may make bank selling it on ebay in future :winkwink:

newB 04-11-2011 01:53 PM

Ah. Gotcha.

In that case, take it to a representative branch for an exchange. Here in the US we've been inundated with Canadian coins for years. Never saw Canadian paper being passed for US though.

Down here we have a $2 which isn't very popular. One morning, getting a coffee at a McDonalds a guy ahead of me tried to pay with a $2. The cashier AND MANAGER had never heard of a $2 and got a cop involved. The cop basically called them idiots.
