.XXX Just Went Live on the Roots - Sex.XXX Resolves!

.XXX was just added to the root servers today...

http://sex.xxx and http://xxx.xxx, along with some others, resolve!

Get ready to pay out the wazoo for .XXX ... $60 registry wholesale cost, in contrast to $7.34 registry wholesale cost for .COM.

BFT3K 04-16-2011 09:33 AM

How many companies are working on .xxx filter systems, as we speak?

The sooner it is understood that .xxx domains are useless, the better.

I would promote such a filter myself, just to help the cause.

I've reserved a ton of one word adult .xxx names, I'm sure I'll do amazing with them while everyone here is crying in their beer.

Alprazolam 04-16-2011 09:38 AM

if you have half a brain you can see which domain names are added to the root and figure out who and what are behind it. if you have been paying attention thus far. keep records of what is there right now and put the puzzle together as it goes. if you don't understand this, then well....

Fat Panda 04-16-2011 09:50 AM

sure you will. .xxx was created to be filtered and blocked. this is the only difference between running a site on a .com... it can easily be blocked.

Frank21 04-16-2011 10:37 AM

They did mention a long time ago they intended to keep the main ones such as sex.xxx and porn.xxx etc and to point them to landing pages containing links to .xxx domains registered.

I guess the sales pitch may be that by registering a xxx domain you will get some free traffic... ?

CurrentlySober 04-16-2011 12:17 PM

you are making it sound like it even matters? so we discover who is behind it... someone will start a 10 page gfy thread about it... and then what? business will be as usual... :2 cents:

iSpyCams 04-16-2011 12:45 PM

The only way this business plan makes sense to me is if they have some secret plan to try to force all porn off of .com domains and restrict it to .xxx

That is the only point at which having a .xxx makes any sense.

Phase 2?

Spill that shit. Not all of us know how to look at a root and see what some of you smarter techie fellas can see.

slapass 04-16-2011 12:55 PM

No one is going to type in anything .xxx so why would ever bother to buy it?

blackmonsters 04-16-2011 12:59 PM

Sponsors are closing and or lowering payouts; webmasters are quitting or crying
on the board for help......

But xxx is going to have a lot of buyers.

AmeliaG 04-16-2011 02:10 PM

If they had a suffix like .sex, I could even see it better, although all the filtering and freedom of speech issues would still apply. On a gut level, I feel like triple x means something and lots of adult sites just don't fit that tag.
