Anyone have a spare laptop?

I have a girl looking to do some writing work online, but she doesn't have a working laptop. I usually have a spare or two but have already passed them on to others needing a computer. Couldn't hurt to ask in case someone has an old one they want to get rid of. I plan to start shopping around to see what kind of deals I can find in case I just buy her one myself.

E-machine laptops at walmart last Xmas for $199. May be a few of those floating on the secondary market now for spit.

You can get a new HP laptop off their site for a little over $500 with 350 GB hd and 4 GB ram. I just picked up a toshiba with 500 GB hd and 4 GB ram at best buy for $450.

I don't believe it.

I do, but the keyboard doesn't work. You either have to get that replaced, or use the external keyboard we have.

Probably not much help though, since it'd cost more to mail it than buy a decent second-hand one in the US.

Looking into cheap netbooks.

I've got a Macbook that is a few years old. It needs a new battery, but works well when plugged into the wall.

I just got a new MBP, and have thought about getting rid of the old one...as it just sits.

I'd take $300

I had to get a new battery for my old MB too when I had it. It actually swelled up all of a sudden and stopped the trackpad and some keys from working. I thought it was going to explode or catch on fire.

How do I contact you?

not local, doesn't have a computer, seems fishy...:2 cents:
are you sure you are not getting fucked?

I've known her for years, and she used to do some writing for me. I'd like her to continue to write. She'd need something portable, to take to her minimum wage day job. She'd have time to write there during slow periods.

I have an Asus eeepc seashell that I bought for my wife a few months ago. It's one of those blue ones that comes with Win7. She never uses it, so I'll get rid of it for 1/2 street value(or better). Almost never been used. Let me know.
