can be anything really, community standards is what the feds use to nail somebody

If they set up a sting in Lakeland, FL and got somebody to mail a video to an address there of a girl getting gang banged by 3 black guys and getting her pussy finger fucked - the feds can claim obscenity because everyone in that town and county is so backwards that they would find the video objectionable.

According to a Supreme Court ruling a jury can decide what is obscene based upon what their perception of community standards are.

It is time to get out of the USA fast.

spazlabz 04-18-2011 07:24 PM

yeah the definition of obscenity is so ambiguous that it is very difficult to prosecute it. I would suspect the 42 politicians in question just want to appeal to the far religious right and try and keep votes.

Politicians never shut up, but most of the time they never get anything done so no worries.
