I've just read an article in the Financial Review that gives a fairly convincing argument that the AUD will be over $1.10 US by the end of May.

man oh man, every time I turn around, I get less for the US:mad:

In 2000 it was about 49cents or less per US 1$ now it's going north of $1.07.. talk about a pay cut.

It sure would be nice to have gold. BUT...what do you do with it? If you decide to cash in your gold for money, the money is worthless lol

And if you could actually buy something at a store with your gold it's still all predicated on the value of the dollar. :(

Makes you wish you bought about 1,000,000 worth of it back in 1970...

Dunno about you but I was about 3 years old in 1970, back then getting £2 from my grandmother was like winning the lottery :1orglaugh

To put it into some perspective...

If you bought a home in 1970 for $47,000 it would be worth around $250,000 today. (though in 2007 it would have been $445,000)

If you bought the same amount of gold it would be worth $1,963,770.

I wonder how many grandpas out there bought the gold and everyone thought they were insane until the will was read.

Silver will be around $90/oz by the end of the summer gold will be around $2000/oz by the end of the year. Who would have thought printing trillions of dollars would have this type of reaction? :1orglaugh
