would you promote a .xxx site?

If a sponser says they have a new site, but its on a .xxx, will you promote it?

Considering sites such as google will have an opt in option as they do with youtube, or isp's have opt ins, would it be worth it?

ertiope 04-23-2011 05:19 AM

No.

In principal, .xxx seems like a great idea. It tells the consumer that this is a porn site... not that there's much confusion now but it could help the layman when browsing.

In reality, it's probably a Government run idea as a way to further filter porn from internet content... it just makes it easier to ban anything with a .xxx prefix than it is with a .com.

In that sense, I don't think it's a good idea and probably wouldn't support a site with it.

ertiope 04-23-2011 05:34 AM

ICM put $10M into .XXX, it's not a government idea.. it's very much for-profit and they wont succeed. It's a retarded idea, as Australia already proved (and India) by either proposing a ban - or already banning it.

Many many more governments will follow. And even if you don't think these "other countries" matter, why give up 20% of your income, aren't things bad enough?

And that said, I haven't, and won't, buy a .XXX domain. If someone registers one that I know (and we're talking a few thousand, from 1998), I will sue. I don't care if I lose money, as long as ICM loses (and anyone who supports them).

u-Bob 04-23-2011 05:49 AM

Fuck the .xxx tld.

19teenporn 04-23-2011 05:52 AM

MrCain 04-23-2011 06:53 AM

No and I would launch an seo campaign against them.

CaptainHowdy 04-23-2011 06:56 AM

Not in plain sight ...

goldassets 04-23-2011 07:03 AM

only the broke kids like 2intense hate .xxx because they can't afford them.

Kiopa_Matt 04-23-2011 07:04 AM

If it helps pays the bills, feed and take care of the family, then fucken rights I would. There's 7 of us, and everyone pitches in, but for all intents and purposes, I'm the one who's ultimately responsible. I'll do what's necessary to ensure the family is taken care of.

Is that like the gay brady bunch?

seeandsee 04-23-2011 07:16 AM

I hate .xxx but at the end we will promote it, you will see

SmokeyTheBear 04-23-2011 07:45 AM

i don't think supporting/not supporting sites that use .xxx will make any difference.

I personally won't buy a .xxx because it seems pointless and overpriced.

The industry wasn't cohesive enough to get .xxx stopped , so we certainly won't be organized enough to have an industry wide boycott on .xxx , if 98% of adult sites boycott .xxx it won't make a difference.

so in a nutshell i have no reason not to. if anone can post a good reason not to..

Regardless of what people say in this thread, they will promote any site that makes them money. It really is as simply as that. When will you learn there are few who stand by their 'principals' when it comes to the adult industry. Case in point, tube sites.

:2 cents:

Rochard 04-23-2011 05:45 PM

I would not. In fact, I would pull links to that entire company. I can find someone else to promote.

Why not, if it pays.

It does seem fairly stupid to buy a .xxx name though - even more stupid than buying a .eu, .co, .so or any of the other ten-a-penny extensions - because its unique unselling point is that it will be banned by a lot of ISPs and filters.

429mg 04-23-2011 07:03 PM

Nope, I won't do link exchanges with .XXX sites and won't accept them on my directories either.

Why would you think that? Do you think all the .com sites are going to suddenly go away? Why would anyone promote .xxx when it is so easily blocked. I'm not buying it and sure as hell aint promoting it anymore than these other useless domain extensions.

SmutHammer 04-23-2011 08:16 PM

Sounds like everyone is just jumping on the bandwagon about being against it.

I know it's really gonna suck for big companies, and I'm going to keep my .com's as long as we can use them. until they change that.... but i'll be prepaired for the switch.

I think the high price is a good thing, it stops people from trying to buy everything they can to try and sell it for more. it also gives you the opertunity to get things taken by the "normal market" I already have built websites waiting on the .xxx's to come out.

it's up to the affiliates if they wanna promote them, I'm sure in time everyone will.

marlboroack 04-23-2011 11:39 PM

.xxx may not be bleeding adult into censorship, maybe placing it into a suitable catagory.

Black All Through 04-24-2011 04:19 AM

No I wouldn't

beerptrol 04-24-2011 06:42 AM

high prices have never stopped that before . Either way what it boils down to is the company behind .xxx never supported the industry and never had the support from the industry. They used trickery and deceit to get .xxx passed . What they do in the future is anyones guess, but what they did in the past was used trickery and deceit to make big bucks off the industry. Not the best track record , nor does it make them very trustworthy

wehateporn 04-24-2011 07:13 AM

If all the decent webmasters ignore it it will fail

Jack Sparrow 04-24-2011 07:27 AM

Lets see how many will care if it makes the difference between earning $100 or a $1000 a month.

i'm not stupid

DaddyHalbucks 04-24-2011 10:20 AM

Pornographers would eat their own children for a buck, so in the end, the odds are .xxx will succeed.

cherrylula 04-24-2011 10:31 AM

I'm not putting up anymore links unless they are .xxx.

blackmonsters 04-24-2011 01:02 PM

If I do buy a .xxx I will 301 redirect it to my .com :1orglaugh
