Put a fraud alert with your credit card company now!

candyflip 04-26-2011 08:16 PM

They said on the news just now that this could cost Sony upwards of $2 Billion.

Pipecrew 04-26-2011 08:20 PM

this makes sense now.

Bank of america sent me a new credit card (same one i used on ps3) and said "your shit was comprimised, this is your new card"

which sucks, cause i had that number for 5 years and run a lot of shit off it.

AdultKing 04-27-2011 01:31 AM

according to news reports here 77 million customers could be affected.

CamChameleon 04-27-2011 02:07 AM

credit card pulled! love my ps3 only have fifa and Gran torismo but will be dumping the card i used for that account and is a shame as it was a decent UK one :( i tried the xbox and it was far to noisy for me and the ps3 is a worthy addition to my living room especially since the release of the slim version!

I play on the 360 and no credit card is required to play online.

Does PS3 require everyone to put up a credit card # before accessing online features?

No, basic free online doesn't require a CC and they have PSN cards you can buy at stores. Its just since the PSN premium service is new, people just opted to input their CC's in the system instead of going to the store to get the prepaid cards.

Xboxxers are just used to buying the prepaid cards at stores. You can input your CC into Xbox live to purchase subscriptions and points, etc btw.

CaptainHowdy 04-27-2011 07:41 AM

That why I couldn't afford a PS3 on the first place ...

I knew that you could purchase stuff on the xbox marketplace with a CC but it was always optional. I thought PS3 was free to play online so I was wondering why so many had to use their CCs. Thanks for clearing that up.

On a side note, I buy all my xbox stuff at the store and don't use my CC online as I've heard it is a pain to get your CC removed if you choose to later.

Oracle Porn 04-27-2011 08:06 AM

Sony got their asses handed to them

96ukssob 04-27-2011 08:13 AM

not surprised to be honest.

Visa/MC made some big changes a while ago that you cant store credit card information (unless its crazy encrypted), so I'm curious how this happened if they are processing with them.

Scott McD 04-27-2011 08:23 AM

Fucked up BIG time.

I am missing my online games of Fifa 11 dammit !!!

bronco67 04-27-2011 08:55 AM

Godammit!!!!!

I just got a new card recently because I was a debit card fraud victim last month. I think I put new info into PSN right before the hack. MOTHERFUCKER!!!!!!

Icy 04-27-2011 08:58 AM

There are a few reports in a consoles forum i use to visit of fraudulent cards usage in the last days and probably related to this, payment attempts of up to $600 in some online stores and some small ones (probably tests) in netflix.

magicmike 04-27-2011 11:04 AM

Anonymous are just a bunch of script kiddies with a few l33t hackers.
The presume to stand for the consumer but really, they are just a bunch of anarchic bullies.

With what they did to the PSN and after the wikileaks controversy - I wouldn't be surprised if governments and corporations lobby for new security measures that change how we access the net in future.

Rest assured... the guys who did it will be traced through the army of proxy servers they hide behind. From what I hear, the FBI is on the case.

IF you support what anonymous has done, then all your porn sites should be free for everyone to access... or else you'll get hacked.

... oh wait... a lot of porn sites are regularly hacked already
